The Imms shouldn't remove a skill because it's never used. They've got enough on their plates to deal with, and I'd rather not distract them from the real issues.

I don't know what the real issues are, but apparently they're Charm Person, stupid names, and sleep...

Laez1 has a point. There are more important things to worrying about. Like making it so Elementals cannot get dispelled.

Could just pull the skill and leave slings in as an exotic.

I don't understand why you can't use a sling to hit something in the next room.

I'd use it if you could.

sling is like siegecraft. Completely and utterly useless outside of very specific circumstances.

There's also nothing stopping a necromancer from zapping ethereal and letting their undead eat a sling using barbarian.

one use sling stones are just [REDACTED]. I'd always try to recover my ammo in any circumstance unless they're obliterated but the code is like NOOOO WAAAY. SLING STONES CAN ONLY BE USED ONCE AND THEN THEY HAVE TO MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR.

Here are a couple of ways that sling could be improved, and most likely get more people to use the skill. For starters, as many have said, you should be able to sling at targets in adjacent rooms. As it is now, a giant can heave enormous boulders into th next room, but is unable to do so with a much smaller projectile.

And rather than having to use a shovel to dig up stones and then have the shovel wear out after maybe getting four or five stones, the sling skill could be retooled similar to herbalism. The better at the skill you were, the better chance you would notice good slinging stones while walking about, and as your skill and status level improved you would also find better stones, both in terms of durability and damage they could produce.

If people wanted to keep Barbarians from having a way of hitting targets from a distance, then we could just take sling away from them, and they're still stuck fighting up close and personal.
