In this thread, post your pro tips. If the thread becomes popular, I'll compilate them and put them into the OP. No IC information, of course!

Protip #1: Cast your gates at the beginning of each tick. That way, there's plenty of time for people to go through them and you can even make round trips on the same gate if you're quick.

Protip #2: Always try to log out with a pet, and when you log in, make your first command 'pos self m2,' so that even if you do log into a room with people who want to kill you they won't be able to insta-bash.

Protip #3: If you play a caster with detects, carry around wands of detection so that if you are ever about to enter a PvP or PvE situation where concentration and mana is key, you can release those spells and zap the wands so that you don't have to worry about that concentration/mana drain.

When sitting around and RPing in an inn, set your wimpy to 60 and follow a random NPC. That way, you can't die to dual-backstab.

Don't roleplay 'til Master.

Keep at least one word of recall vial / device with you at all times if possible. Bind a key or short alias to draw it and use it in an emergency.

Check the who list at least every thirty seconds.

You can order your pet to change it's mode, aim, and stance.

I have an alias on the server side that I use to maximize the life of my pet and allow my characters to get a few more shots in when fighting alongside or behind a pet that some might find helpful.



Then you just have to remember to use it when you get a new pet and when you log in, which is sometimes the hard part, lol.

Mode stun if you wish to avoid serious consequences with the law.
Keep coin in the bank or have a friend help you with a deposit if there is a bank fine and you're going to turn yourself in to avoid more serious penalties.
Turning your config toggle for auto assist to off may also help avoiding law complications.

Try to solve as many RP 'problems' as you can without staff intervention.
You may otherwise get more than you bargained for.

Be patient and remember any leaders have an obligation to respond to membership requests.

Remember the goal is to have fun. And the goal is for those others playing to have fun. Do not forget the golden rule.

Become paranoid! Be aware of the fact that someone is always out to get you.

If you get charmed, suck up to the sorc by kissing their [REDACTED] shamelessly and you may leave with your lewt intact.

When you get ganked (and trust me it will happen) don't ever complain about j/looting; it will only increase the chance it will occur.

Don't spam the cb channel, it's annoying.

Don't flip out OOC, if you wanna flip out make sure it's an IC flip out.

Don't join the Harlies. Ever.

If you're RPing a sprite, don't put S's at the end of each word, it's annoying.

Don't make a griffon. Ever.

Make aliases for all your important things, it speeds things up for you.

Use nospam.

Use echo triggers to make seeing stuff easier.

If you can't read fast.. go play candyland with your little cousin/nephew/brother/etc.

Only take half of the tips I said seriously.

Don't take anything grep says seriously.

Don't do a drunk RP, it's annoying.

On this note, don't RP when you're drunk IRL. The next time you login, your character will be in the River and you won't have any idea why, and some character you've never heard of will send you a tell like "OOC LOL LAST NIGHT"
