I'll spend some time thinking about what might be the best way to log that material.

Talking to Dulrik about someone's adjective is like telling Obama about someone stealing a candy bar at your local grocery store.

Having immortal responses include "Don't bother the staff with problems" is bad. It would be better for there to be something to recommend someone do in a positive voice. "Try submitting a ticket for issues like this, we're able to notice and respond to them faster that way." Not, "We're all busy doing important things, like telling you we are busy doing important things."

Keep prayer as-is and let it be an in-character way to solicit the heavens. When we pray irl we're pretty much talking to ourselves anyway, so it has an element of realism to it.

Add an out-of-character ticket system where you can view your active tickets, their current level of response, and active comments. Allow players to delete resolved or unread tickets, allow admins to delete any tickets. Use the in-game table viewer to handle it. It would pretty much just be a new database with some new commands to interface with it. Ticketing systems allow for tiered responses and submission awareness, both advantages to the current prayer system from either side of the issue. It would be a good investment. I'm sure bug/typo/idea already have something approaching this anyway.

Rennus, do you think it would really help? Logging all of the prayers would most definitely lead to a large number of prayers being logged to the point that many of the prayers will just be ignored, so people will start praying more to get there prayer read, and it just snowballs from there. I think this has been the main reason against logging them in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of prayer being logged. I just don't think it will help as much as we hope.

Bah, just copy/paste (well, not literally, I'm sure it wouldn't be -that- easy.) the 'idea' or 'bug' log code and make a few more maybe a general 'abuse' or something for name abuses specifically.

If PAR had curse, that would just cause everyone grief as it will be abused, no question about it, and that just causes problems all around.

And I have to agree with Grep, 'pray' should be an IC tool to attempt to reach the Gods much like real-world religious types will attempt, not something to flood the imms with our petty issues.

Would be nice to see the 'news' list updated too, it seems to have been ignored for some time ;)

Woot! If you want to steal existing code from elsewhere in the mud, make it basically like a note board for IMMs where the "message" is the contents of the pray command. Set it to auto-purge once a week, if you don't already have some code to do that. I think that would be the quickest and easiest way to log prayers... Or just make an angel NPC who listens for prayers and have it post on the imm board (last I checked, there was such a thing, not sure if there any more) - I don't think this would even need to be done by you, any imm skilled at scripting could probably do it.
