Nice MUD - i have one quick question:
Are immortals on this MUD also allowed to have their own PCs? Image

Thanks for your help

Last I remember hearing was yes, but they can't join cabals or tribunals with them. They're also no different than any other character (of course).

I'm pretty sure I've killed a couple characters of IMMs.

Yes.

Excluding the time when they are new to being staff, "Angels" instead of "Immortals," they are allowed to have PCs. Some do, though most don't.

They can also join cabals and tribunals. They just can't lead them.

I would endorse this answer. I am likely the IMM with the most time doing both. I've logged several thousand hours of PC time since I began my time on staff as Achernar in 2005. I have also logged over 7000 hours in that time as Achernar. I achieved the one player goal I never attained while an IMM - I aged to death a character in 2010. The policy has become more relaxed in the years since I joined the staff and I suppose I am to blame. I often use this as leverage when trying to snag pesky "Angels". Oh, you will still be able to play, yes... *rubs his hands together greedily*

Do you think this gives them an unfair advantage in the game? Image

I have had certain advantages while playing, yes. I also am at certain disadvantages that I inflict upon myself. I have only once or twice successfully playerkilled since IMMing. In several instances I have died at the hands of other players. Any time I had any question of a IMM responsibility being a conflict of interest, I have handed those items to other staffers to handle. Its going to be the case that when former players staff a game that there will always be either a chance, appearance, or actual bias toward players the former player was informed with. This doesn't disappear and it has gotten some staff members in trouble. It also kind of makes the community what it is. Double edged sword. I have monitored the activities of the IMM players for several years and rarely found any problems. I would say I have made mistakes and have owned up to Dulrik for them. I am currently no longer playing a PC, but could create a character at any minute to help a true newbie or just to mess around. It is also necessary to have characters ready when testing scripts or code. I try to let that character fit in instead of sticking out.

All I really want to know is how many IMMs I've ganked.

I'm curious as to how the answer to this question weighted your decision to stay, if you don't mind telling us.
