I think they are great for drama. With every added noteboard we get another chance for hissy fits and the artillery of longdistance snubshots. There is of course a good use for the Astral and other noteboards, but I rarely have the stomach to wade through the detritus to see it. My 2c.

Well, I don't want this thread to get too discouraging for prospective noteboard users. Maybe some positive examples are in order?

One tribunal leader I played set up a contest to redesign a village's temple. The country and leader being what they were, there were about six or seven rules. Had I tried to communicate all this by tells, I would have made critical mistakes. Nor is giving detailed instructions particularly fun RP for anyone. Posting rules where everyone could review them as needed was a big help. That said, had I not sent tells to let people know about the contest, I wouldn't have gotten any entries.

My zealot priest posted a note denouncing a rival god in that god's primary kingdom. Granted, this is close to just being the long-distance insulting that Nayzor denounced. There's very little RP generated by such insults, because no one person has much interest in responding. Tells stir the pot much better. But the event of posting that note in that place created a religious war, and the removal of the note provided evidence of victory. I think that note easily earned its listing. But knowing what I do now, I would have sent tells to kingdom citizens that mentioned the note, instead of just assuming the opposing church would pick up on it.
