Yeah, sorry, I wasn't clear from iPhone. Just meant that edoras's explanation doesn't work across all situations where this bug occurs. Could be multiple bugs I guess though.

Methods that are reliably replicated can be dealt with.

Making other scenarios that much easier to isolate and fix.

Well, I have a theory on how to replicate this one. 2 man formation, F1 and M1,
Priest in M1 mood defensive mode kill.
Tank in F1 mood aggressive mode stun.

Round 1:
Tank attacks something they can kill in 2 rounds with melee.
Priest starts to cast harm

Round 2:
Priest still concentrating on harm.
Tank stuns target.

Round 3:
Tank is "still in combat" with stunned target because priest is still concentrating on a mode kill spell. Tank kills target.

Thats just my guess at correctly replicating this - I just used harm as an example as a long-casting direct damage spell.

Good idea. Just throwing out a spell with a longer cast time: FOD.

FoD isn't direct damage however. Its chance to kill with damage if resisted. I am not sure if this would affect the output.

FoD is direct damage based on the current HP of the target.

Are we even sure the spell has to be direct damage to cause the bug? Maybe it only has to be an aggressive spell that keeps the caster in combat. Perhaps a sorc casting charm would keep the group in combat. This discussion is a little off topic, and I'll digress to saying that I believe harm is sufficient and there shouldn't be a problem.

Peso makes more sense than anyone here, as he has studied this longer than you, he wins. Obviously.

I didn't think this was a bug. I remember Dulrik tweaked something awhile back that made crimes harder to avoid and that if anyone in the party was on mode kill that it could cause a change in mode of others in the group. I could look up the update, but I think its legit.
