Does being blemished cause you to no longer gain experience? I've been killing things for the past 3 1/2 hours and not gained a single tick of exp.

Edit: During the 3 1/2 hours I've been killing dark auras that con @ tough challenge to me.

Edit #2: Yet another hour and nothing, I just won't play my sprite until this bug (or whatever the heck is going on ) is fixed.

And I'm not complaining about being blemished, cause the blemishment was deserved.

You do gain exp, but very, very, very slowly.
So slowly that it was worth it for me to wait 2 weeks (or so) to be atoned before going training again.

If blemishment does caused this, when was this code changed? Cause yesterday I was gaining experience at the normal rate and I was blemished during that time period. Those I have spoken too have said that blemishment shouldn't affected exp gain, and if that is true then perhaps my character file is corrupted somehow?

What level are you and what is your CHA?

At high levels, it's honestly possible it could just take you that long to get XP, especially if you aren't killing very many NPCs in that time frame.

I actually have no idea if being blemished would affect this or not. I would think not, but who knows.

I had no idea that being blemished affected XP gain. I didn't think it did. Then again, I've never been blemished.

Interesting.

But yeah, if you're killing anything that considers as a tough challenge for 3 hours you definitely would have gained at least one tick of experience regardless of your charisma and level.

I have a log from the time I logged in until I got too annoyed of it and logged out. Believe the total time was nearly 5 hours and no experience gain. I figured I should have atlease gotten to one-third or even the half-way mark.

I don't see why this should affect the xps gained. If it's not a bug then there is some BS reason that it is a feature of the game. Don't expect to see this fixed.

I get the feeling though that there is something you aren't telling us. If you're aiming mid and chopping off arms then it will severely neuter the xps you gain from leveling as armless opponents are considered helpless under the code and anything in helpless status nets no xp gain. That could be what is actually affecting your xps.

I always aim upper, and I have a log of the entire time from when I first logged on till I finally logged off.

It does sound like a bug. I don't think it was meant to be that way.

Some things to check (which you probably already did) are:
* What is your level of familiarity with that area? Have you gotten tired of it along the way?
* Are the NPCs immobilized in any way?
* Does the same thing happen with light and dark aura NPCs (assuming your alignment allows for killing both kinds)

And Katsuko, I am curious as to your experience with gaining XP slowly. Are you sure it wasn't just because you didn't have access to your hellion spells and thus couldn't collect on the enhaced XP from spell damage?

Well I've been online now for less than a hour and I've gone from:

Code:
You have just begun your journey to the next level.
You have only recently discovered this area.

to

Code:
You are over one-third of the way to the next level.
You have become familiar with this area.

Was fighting the exact same creatures last night and gained 0 exp for the entire 5 hours I was on. Plus the 3 GM deep-elven NPCs in Ch'zzyrm. All areas my familiarity was recently discovered.

Edit: Just went through my log of last night and I killed 30 NPCs that considered as a tough challenge. Since I logged on today I've killed 5 things and notice 2 ticks of exp. Still very odd, and if it was a bug of any sorts I can send the log from last night to any Imm if they require it.
