So I start casting at a half-elf and get blinded. The logical thing would be that I'd just not be able to cast but apparently I target myself?

A half-elf walks in from the west.
A half-elf punches at the grey wolf's chest, barely wounding her.

You are lucky you did not delete your character there.

Magma spray is very powerful you know.

If you are blind in normal circumstances and try to cast magma spray on a helf, will you hit yourself, or just not cast at all? I would have expected you to not cast at all, but this log makes me wonder.

even though you are blind you will still hit a half-elf, you. I have done this with other characters.

If the half-elf had just left the room, you would have hit yourself as well. I don't that would be a bug, so I don't think this is a bug. I think this is supposed to be a feature, though it is weird that the mechanics work that way.

The alternative is that you can't target yourself with aggressive spells, which would seem to make sense most of the time, but there are edge cases where you might want to do so.

It seems like spells actually target twice. For example, when you attempt to cast most spells, they require a valid target. However, once the casting time is up, it will retarget. Does it have to be this way?

example:
an evil human is here.
c flamestrike elf
This spell requires a name or direction.
c flamestrike human
you begin to concentrate.
a friendly human walks in.
you flamestrike a friendly human!

It's necessary with the current implementation which I'm not going to refactor anytime soon.
