Oh, Oh, thinking about this thread the other day, I got to wonder.

If an Imm curses someone for the full 5 levels, what happens to the stat trains? Do they get randomly lost? Or does the perpetrator end up with some more stat points after they "work their 5 lost levels off"?

Obviously, the first case would be fair, while the second would take SOME sting out of the punishment.

They can probably get them back when they level up again, though they would only "lose" 2 stat trains.

When you lose a level, you lose all benefits associated with that level. You'll have to retrain when you get the level back. Trust me when I say, there is no hidden upside to getting a penalty. You don't want them.

except a random stat is lost, not the last stat you trained, so you can optimize your stats with careful acceptance of curses

The way Dulrik phrases it ("you lose all benefits associated with THAT level"), I would think you would lose the stat point you trained. You trained str, you lose str. You trained manayou loose mana. You have a stat point to spend that you haven't spent yet, and you lose that spare point? So is it a random stat point, or the on that you got from that level?

I imagine it acts the same way as it does when you naturally lose a level (from an Edrain or reincarnation). In those cases, the stat point is random.

Stat points are not random, I think there was a code update that made them specific to your class. So your primary stat point is lost. You can figure out your primary stat point for your class, if you play a human, and what stat points can be trained above 20. Like a warrior who can get 23 strength. That class will always lose str stats when dropping a level.
