FYI.

It does not, however, break when your assailant runs away like a little schoolgirl.

Yes it does.

The walking away example was a little odd though. But if the paladin flees from combat from like I dunno say, fear or just fleeing the nimbus breaks.

Necros now have animate dead lasting twice as long, controls saving on logout, even more badass scripts, impairment, etc. Yawn. I might have to do it again eventually.

Gilgon, you abused animate wands, spam-ganked relics solo, farmed bounty NPCs, and killed newbs. My gnome merc with a priest would have done just fine against your necro.

Since then, animate wands have been made useless, draining trib accounts is impossible (bounty NPCs and judges drain at 1/5 the rate they do now and farming coin is stupid easy), and there are still newbs.

Hmm... Not going to comment. Don't want to derail the thread.

Yeah, after I rampage for a little while I will try to force myself to play a necro again. Can't believe this many people whine about it.

I say this in regard to keeping a trib account full. Draining a trib account takes a -lot- of time now, much less time than it takes to keep it full.

I realize that this is due in part to my own advice. I'm not saying it's bad. Just saying that it's different from when Algon "trolled the mud."

It is rediculously easy to farm coin if you know what you are doing. Yes dulrik I will derail it for you in agreement.

Damn, can you guys knock it off? I don't need any more of a pain in the [REDACTED] farming coin than I already have.

Farming coin is appropriately difficult.

Edoras is playing a necro, the best class for coin farming, and I can say that deathadder does not coin farm at exceptionally high rates, either. Passable, but nothing special. He devoted a considerable amount of time to it with Llewlwlaylylllyyn when I had Tarconus.

Hey Algon, I looked through your PK logs with Olian, and out of about 16 PK logs, there were only 4 in which your opponents used holy word. In two of those logs, the person holy wording either did it late and/or was on the front row. You won those because the undead immediately focused said person casting holy word and you were able to bash them, because they were stupid and weren't even behind a pet.

In the other two logs where holy word was used, you lost those fights because people were smart enough to actually put the person holy wording (Even if it was an NPC) behind them and have them cast it, although in one you managed to land a couple kills anyway because the people holy wording actually did it with a sentinel on mode stun which was dumb.

In absolutely no fights did anyone actually use a walk-in holy word. In no fights did anyone ever hit you with ranged combat, although there is one where someone shoots your enormous wight with arrows.

In most of those fights you also had a buttload of wights animated through wands for extra damage (twice as much damage as necros can reach now), in a handful you used charm scrolls, and I'm sure that you ordered them aggressive as well.

So to conclude, again, you fought a bunch of newbs, and if anyone with half a brain and access to holy word ever came along, your necro would have been trashed just as well as any other. On top of that, necros are even weaker at their peak now than they were back then.

Necros are, for all intents and purposes, "Balanced" in the way that they offer no more to any group of PCs in PvP than any other class. There are some situations where an undead army is great, sure, but in those cases the necro will just be avoided. There are also many cases (fighting lighties/paladins) where I would much rather prefer a different class than necro in my party because they're so fragile against people who can holy word. These recent changes have made necros just need to PK in groups, they can't PK solo anymore and ravage the mud, despite the fact that they still require the most prep time than any other class and also don't have access to the enchant spellset. I personally never thought that necros should be "balanced" in this way on account of the massive amount of time they require to prep both in enchanting and constant prep in the way of animating before every fight, but whatever. Their greatest boon is the ability to do exceedingly well in PvE, but honestly no one should need help in PvE except in the Iron Citadel and Dreamscape, which are littered with null-magic rooms making necros just as much of a pain to use than a bonus.

So necromancers are balanced, just don't bite off more then you can chew?
