If you are a sorc who has mastered the art of charming the pants off people, why would you fall prey to another sorc trying to charm the pants off of you?

If you are a swashbuckler who has mastered the art of taunting ridicule, why would you fall prey to another's taunts?

If you are a bard who has mastered the art of singing others into rapt silence, why would you fall prey to another's song?

I am sure there are many more examples that could be given. But I think there should be a susceptibility save for certain skills/spells/songs based on how skilled you are with them.

Just because you know how to do something does not make you immune to having it done to you. If you want to make yourself less susceptible, you already have that option - make the appropriate saving throw better by training your stats and getting appropriately enchanted gear.

I'm not looking for immunity, at all. Susceptibility and immunity are totally different concepts. Songs of silence, yeah I know those songs and that tactic, I'm not falling prey to that. But ya know, she sings that song so well, it is beautiful!

Like I said, susceptibility v immunity are two different things. And I'm not looking for immunity, but rather a susceptibility save.

Why do people always make these types of suggestions without even bothering to consider how it would affect game balance?

If you ask me PCs should be -more- susceptible to things that they are adept at themselves, if anything.

"I'll never fall prey to a sleep spell! It's such a simple spell, I cast it all the ti zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

OR have it be even more likely to affect you if you're bad at it and they're better than you!

"Pshaw, he's trying to shoot me? I can never hit the broadside of a barn, why does he even bother to OH THE PAIN WHY IS MY BLOOD EVERYWHERE"

Also, I think we should add a feature where if you spend too much time around higher-level characters of your own class, you become depressed because your character starts feeling like he'll never be as good as them. Have it be a penalty to all skill levels or something, or a decrease in XP gain.

Edoras has the right of it. In fact I read an article the other day that suggested that more highly educated people are more susceptible to scams because everybody knows that smarter people don't need help, and can take care of themselves, right?

Well, I feel the only time I should call the repairman is when I want to be lazy, and not fix something myself.
