Why is it that griffons and sprites and other can land while fighting, but can't start flying again? I've never really understand this, and think a change would make sense. If the reason is to prevent polymorphed folks from flying during a fight, I would think this would be easy enough to disallow, while allowing those to whom flight comes naturally to do so.

I think you can cast fly and start flying in mid combat

I'm almost positive you're right, and that's part of the reason for my question. It seems it would be easier for a sprite or griffon non-caster to take off naturally, than it would be for some clumsy gnome wizard to suddenly start flying. Not that I think that should be taken away, just natural fliers should be allowed to do so.

I also think a rider should be able to dismount in combat, perhaps at a cost of a round or two of lag.

As I think about it, Perhaps that is why griffons and sprites can't fly right away. The casters who cast fly have to cast it (or brandish) and suffer some lag that griffons and sprites do not. Maybe if they get some lag when they lift themselves up to fly in combat?

In the same class of question, why can you wear things when blinded or dirt kicked but not remove them? :P

Maybe so people don't have 3-4 different sets of gear specifically designed to WTFROFFLESTOMP specific classes and macro each set so they can put it on instantly?

Really, the only thing I can think of, well other then its hard to code. Hard coding is always a possible excuse when you don't know [REDACTED] about the code.
