Whatever, barbarians can wear leather if they want, they'll just suck and look dumb. I don't see much of a reason to give leather wearing barbarians a bonus for trying to look cool at the cost of being dumb.

Dude, you look like this:

So you can't possibly be making that argument.

I would only say give them leather if part of their innate toughness can be transferred to the protection of light armor

This should have nothing to do with dragonscale hand magical vestments, or mithril armor. This should be about a barb not having to worry about armor class on armor at all. There is a ton of nice leather and cloth armor in the game which is only a viable option for fountain rp'ers, sorcs and priests to use. This would open up for that.

Maybe I am remembering wrong, or the rumors I was told were wrong - but back in the day a certain cabal skill was actually enhanced dodge renamed. The said skill was then changed mechanics wise to something else. Enhanced dodge rawked hiney from what I recall, which is why it was also changed? For barbs the skill could be renamed as well.

Perhaps the skill should work better if the barb is wielding a two-handed weapon, while wearing armor that isn't of supernatural make (mithril, dragonscale, energy, water ink and so on), while berserked, while on foot, while...

Take a look at these uncivilized warriors.

As you can tell, these warriors would have been able to counter surprise attacks because of the incredible peripheral vision granted by their helmets.
This light armor allowed them to track their prey on foot through forests and mountains. It was ideal for climbing.

Every time someone does facial emotes or socials in a greathelm, Achernar kills a kitten. It's as bad as a smiling griffon, if not worse.

Sorry if you didn't find the "hide helm" option like the rest of us, Evena.

If you got rid of heavy armor for them, you could add a chance to cast fear in a room you are in when you berserk. Maybe make it like fury, but you have to hit both berserk/fury before you have a chance for the fear effect to go off.

Shrieking topless crazed woman wielding an axe, wearing severed heads and phallus's would enter into a battle-rage, sending war hardened troops into confusion, sometimes causing them to break ranks and flee in terror.

True story.
