Trag, curious why did you put bard under swashie?

Because the raw class without another player to support them or within a tribunal or cabal they are super terrible. They can only do the easiest of any PvE on their own and are almost exclusively a support class. I really think they need shield block to be a little less squishy and not completely worthless on their own.

When it comes to priest ranking, it's highly dependant upon the faith they're in. The faith spells are by no means balanced in any way, and there's a fair number of those spells that are basically useless (the most commonly pointed to one being Meissa, but I can guarantee that one probably won't be touched because I personally argued to Dulrik that it's useless and that pretty well means he's going to set his heels in and dig, because he and I are never allowed to agree).

yeah, I think at this point everyone agrees with you on that point except D

Okay, understandable

Strongest to weakest:

1. Sorceror
2. Shaman
3. Necromancer
4. Barbarian
5. Mercenary
6. Priest
7. Hellion
8. Scout
9. Warlock
10. Swashbuckler
11. Paladin
12. Bard
13. Rogue

Sorc gets #1 on account of being the closest thing to completely self-reliant in the game. The only thing a sorc can't do is brew WoR for herself.

Priest is the best utility class in the game, but they can't do anything in the game by themselves. There's also always a massive overabundance of this class in the game, which just makes them really bleh, IMO. There's not much difference between an averagely played priest and a good one. The few people who manage to make the class seem 'great' are usually heavily dependent on things like a triple FoD scroll.

Shaman is by far the most versatile class in the game. And I'd take a Shaman over a priest in my PK group any day. The only thing Priests have over Shamans is scrolls. Voodoo, call lightning, maledictions, etc more than make up for that though.

Barb > Merc IMO, since barbs can use any weapon.

Bard is mechanically a horrible class outside of large scale PvP.

Warlock, Scout, Hellion are all kind of bleh. There's nothing particularly good about any of them, and nothing too horrible. Hellion edges the other two out because of maledictions. But has the downfall of sucking stat points like a vacuum and being BoGable. All three of these classes can be successful if well played, but generally if you took that player and put them behind a sorc/barb/merc they'd be mechanically better.

Paladins are horrible, unless you need to BoG somebody or fight a necro. Great, then. Otherwise, horrible. It's like a gimp merc who can cast cure light and refresh. I mean, I think the fact that they get call armor just shows you how horrible they are. The oddest thing about paladins is the fact that they get locate? Wtf?

Rogue is a completely worthless class unless you're a Harlequin, and even then it's pretty easy to nullify them as an enemy.

You're completely wrong about paladin, Syn. But whatever.

The only reason to have a paladin in your group instead of a merc is if you're fighting a...

There's really no reason, since a merc can just use a crossbow and shoot a Necro from a safe distance.

Paladin is more fun to RP than a merc, I'm sure.

Pallys also get sanctuary don't they? Pretty awesome spell, and there are cases bog will do 10x more than a bolt or arrow to other classes since there is like no darkie priests to enchant that don't mudsexxor all day.

Take my list with a grain of salt since I'm not nearly as educated as anyone else who has responded. This is kind of based off of survivability and how much damage can be done from the class.

1. Sorceror
2. Barbarian
3. Necromancer
4. Mercenary
5. Shaman
6. Priest
7. Hellion
8. Rogue
9. Paladin
10. Warlock
11. Scout
12. Bard
13. Swashbuckler, especially after age ticks

I think this list changes a lot if you start taking into account specific builds (trib/cabal, etc) and I'd be curious to see people's top 10 lists of race/class/cabal builds. That's pretty twinkish though. I tried to rate them strongest/weakest in a no-trib/cabal scenario. + points for ability to accomplish stuff (pk offense, pk defense, pve) alone.

1. Sorceror
2. Mercenary
3. Shaman
4. Necromancer
5. Hellion
6. Barbarian
7. Paladin
8. Priest
9. Warlock
10. Scout
11. Swashbuckler
12. Bard
13. Rogue
