No, you aren't making a save everytime, you failed on your second recite and from then point on you need to regain your nerve before you can go again. Same thing would happen if someone from their cabal base shoots the hellion with an arrow and then moves to another murder hole and shoots them again. Each action is separate. You were not in physical combat with anyone in the other group. Spell casters do have it the worst against hellions because of that. Been that way forever though.

He made his first save, groups are now in combat, intimidate should no longer protect the group.

Jhorleb read what I wrote. If an archer in a cabal shoots a hellion from one murder hole successfully and then moves to another murder hole, does he need to make another save. Answer: yes. Same exact thing, if it change that you want happens once *a* party member goes into combat with anyone in the group, cabal defense will have 1/3 of the defender's group in the murderholes doing whatever they want to the hellion's group.

So, my question is this. I'm a spellcaster in a group defending the keep. Everyone but me leaves to go battle the invaders while they are engaged with the outside guardian. My group engages, does that mean I have free reign to go to each murder hole and cast an aggressive spell someone in the hellion's group, without making an intimidate check?

I'm afraid everything you wrote is irrelevant, because intimidate doesn't affect people outside of the room. People already can do this, Muktar, and it's not a bug. I can't help but shake the feeling we're having entirely different conversations. I'm sorry that I can't find a way to clarify it better for you.

Sorry, I went through my logs of a char that I know went to A'van and used a ranged attack. You are completely right, I for some reason confused some of my battles where I could approach in the same room and attempt to flame strike vs being a room away. I do apologize. In that light, I agree with you.

Intimidate should still protect the Hellion and anyone else in that group who is NOT YET in combat, but the people who are in combat should be hosed.

I think this makes it way too complicated. In the end, I think once a group engages in combat - the group is in combat. Intimidation should be out the window, the fight's already started. Otherwise, you'll have a hell of a time keeping priests/back row people from getting repeated intimidation saves, too. I don't think intimidation should be selective. If the groups not in combat, leave all the checks as they are now. If the group's in combat already, you don't get selected intimidation saves. It's silly to only be able to cast on 3 of 9 group members, say, if the mid/back rows made the saves.

Might as well remove intimidate and give hellions sanc, then.

Uhg yes cause when we cast sanc it works on the WHOLE party.

Give paladins sanctuary as a skill and let it protect the whole party until it's broken so i don't have to keep casting it.
