Swashbucklers are completely useless in PvE. And considering that the only position in a formation for them is the front row, this really needs to be addressed.

Compared to mercenaries and barbs...

They have worse armor, less hp(could be mistaken on this one), less strength, no shield for damage reduction, lower damage output, less attacks, no bash, no rescue, no ability to function anywhere except the front row.

And in PvE, most NPCs attack with a "natural attack". Mercs obviously get both eparry and shield block. Barbs get shield block which is far more successful than the eparry that swashies get, AND it reduces the damage you take from every hit.

And mercenaries/barbs don't even have to be front row!

Why is the one class who literally /has to be in the front row/ so awful at it?

Swashies need some sort of sword-shield-esque skill that massively reduces damage they take, perhaps on the notion that any blows striking them are glancing blows since due to the swashies finesse, they divert enemy attacks to cause the least possible harm.

I dunno. But this really does need to be addressed.

This is a great idea and I would so much rather this be implemented than some stupid arbitrary skill that is supposed to cause damage (like headbutt or something) because swashies SHOULD be harder to hit and SHOULD be able to take hits more - adding in some skill won't change that. I keep hearing "swashie changes are coming" but now everyone is deleting and going MIA

Let's wait for Dulrik to push the fly changes he's referenced for the past while through and see what happens then. I think if trip worked, swashes could do better. Taunt is really quite good.

In PvP, yes.

I don't mind having a swashie in PvP.

Taunt and fly do not help in fighting the 234235434534 NPCs in the game who have natural attack.

Lets just remove them, and add three new things to replace them.

1) The Pirate Class
2) Pistols for the new class
3) Bombs for the new class

End result,

Something a hell of a lot more fun and unique than the trash that Swashbucklers have become.
