Should thrown weapons weight be reduce?

I am pretty sure many of us would start using and even buying thrown weapons if their weight was something on the order of what arrows are now.

Why would you use thrown weapons when could lose just as easily with many other weapons? I've seen better ideas come from Rick Santorum.
