Play an alt then. Nobody is forcing you to sit there and watch the screen. That's an independent decision you can make on your own.

As for your attempt at an offhanded comment, need I remind you that people pick off the strategies I list on log sites, and employ them and use strategies that I discuss with them? Also character buids, ad naseum, blah blah, I don't need to continue listing things.

What I'm trying to get at is that you're a halfwit.

Well, half a wit, and an actual life is still more than you'll ever have.

On the subject at hand: Jail time needs to be capped. Just playing an alt is not an actual solution. It is a lame, and silly response to an actual issue. Someone being locked up for ten or more IRL days because of flaws in the reporting system is actually close to being a case of bug abuse when you think of it. Expecting a player to keep a char in prison for that long is a sign of a serious divorce from reality. I'm not sure how many other ways I can put this. Jail time needs a cap; period.

So you're admitting that you really have nothing to attack me with.

GET A LIFE!!

You wage an excellent argument there.

Hmmm....actually I DO. It was either that or "grow up," but that may be expecting too much...so was the other, come to think of it. Anyone who could say "Need I remind you that people pick off the strategies I list on log sites, and employ them and use strategies that I discuss with them? Also character buids, ad naseum," with a straight face, and take it as a sign of anything other than needing to get out more, is probably beyond hope; but this is a thread about Jail Time caps and why we do or do not need them. So knock it off; as it is, this thread will probably be in GD soon.

This thread doesn't even merit being moved to GD, it deserves to be locked and deleted.

Actually, making an alt was Dulrik's suggested solution when I brought this issue up: And my character would have had to stay logged off for over a month to deal with the jailtime, meaning he'd be stripped of leadership and auto deleted.

You would not be deleted for 0 hours in only one month. You would lose leadership, but that would be deserved. Even crime lords that run their empire from jail need to check in via cell phone with their lieutenants every once in awhile.

If you have lots of hours in jail, you have lots of options:
1. Actually sit in jail online. Note that you can RP via tell during this time which leads to...
2. Negotiate a pardon/parole. Might require RP skills not everyone has, but it IS possible. Or...
3. Be broken out of jail by friends.
4. Play an alt while your first character burns their jail time while offline.

Note that you can pursue all of these options each day. Awesome!

Hardly anyone is going to give pardons or paroles to whoever actually racks up enough crimes to need one, and that's if the trib leader happens to be online when you are. I've got no problem with RPing through tells for a while, but when the bounty NPC system causes tribunal members who actually wage war to quickly rack up a week or so IRL of jail time, then that leaves you with very little option to log onto that character unless you are able to be broken out.

In other words, jailtime past a certain point is ultimately pointless. At best, it makes people log off of their characters and play alts just because they lost at PvP, which in general is not a beneficial thing in SK if you ask me.

No one is going to give a pardon to you when your attitude is "[REDACTED] you."

Was against making punishment lighter when I had some of the longest lists in the game. Still against it.

Pardoning and paroling people almost isn't worth the river of tears from other lighties, but I still did it often enough. Sorry, but you know the consequences of playing a diabolic char who breaks lots of laws. I mean in real life you would be jailed for life and no chance of escape or parole. A few days won't kill you. A week or even a month won't kill you. Gives your diabolic character time to stew, plot, and get someone to pardon you or break you out of jail.
