I would like to propose a change. I believe it would be better for the game (from a balance standpoint) if we could not dispel someone while the caster was ethereal. The caster is essentially immune while they place the most damaging maladiction on an enemy.

In my opinion, an ethereal person should still be able to BE dispelled while ethereal, and again, this is for balance reasons.

That actually sounds pretty legit. I'd be fine with ethereal casters dispelling ethereal casters though.

Well I'd hope so.

Yes I agree though, ethereal and dispel to solid opponents has become too powerful. Especially since it's damn near impossible to get enough willpower to defend against such a brutal tactic. If you're melee you're absolutely screwed, because melee depends on dispellable buffs like haste, gs, armor, bless, etc etc.

Even if you make dispel unable to be cast while ethereal, it's still going to be ridiculously good, even more so than it was. I personally think the save on willpower check spells needs to be looked at, unless the staff is willing to add more innate great willpower mods into the game. As it is, there aren't enough greater willpower mods to feed the entire player base.

There's a suit of tanso steel that pops on NPCs in the Menegroths that comes with greater will. I'm not especially bothered by dispel magic. Sure it's a good spell, but I don't think anybody has done any testing on this.

Let's note that it's also relatively easy to max out the wisdom stat now through stat mods (I've done this on my elf mercenary), which provides a bonus to willpower saves. Bless, an amateur level spell, has also become wildly useful now as it provides a bonus to every save.

Seriously, you guys are just [REDACTED] lazy, and I'm a pretty lazy guy. You're giving me a run for my money in the field of procrastination.

I find it very hilarious your solution to having low willpower is to get tanso steel that has a low AP value of something like brass. You sure do know how to get around the horrible enchanting system, huh Ardith? Such great advice.

And the most extra WIS you can get is like 4, maybe 5 if you get really lucky with enchants. Or you can get more than that if you decide to instead get jewelry with innate wisdom, but then you'll be giving up a jewelry slot that you could be using for innate greater will or fort so pretty much you give up greater will to get greater wisdom....which doesn't really change much.

I think the point was that you can still dispel an ethereal person, but they can't dispel you. I approve of this message.

You can't cast any other aggro spells while ethereal, can you? Or can you?

You can't. Just about every spell you cast while ethereal will "go through" your victim if they aren't ethereal. Dispel for some reason doesn't.
