Its because you are supposed to be able to dispel the ethereal person. But a spell that works in one direction but not the other doesn't make very much sense.

It's magic!

Besides, there's already precedent for physical things being able to magically affect the ethereal plane but not vice versa. Certain doors can prevent ethereal people from walking through them, even though an ethereal person can't open said door even if it's unlocked. It's already understood that when someone goes ethereal, they forfeit the ability to affect the material plane, even though they're still subject to it. If that wasn't true, everyone who goes ethereal would just fall through the floor.

I have to disagree in this case.

Be more balanced if it didnt work both ways.

I find it very hilarious your solution to having low willpower is to get tanso steel that has a low AP value of something like brass. You sure do know how to get around the horrible enchanting system, huh Ardith? Such great advice.

And the most extra WIS you can get is like 4, maybe 5 if you get really lucky with enchants. Or you can get more than that if you decide to instead get jewelry with innate wisdom, but then you'll be giving up a jewelry slot that you could be using for innate greater will or fort so pretty much you give up greater will to get greater wisdom....which doesn't really change much.

I had no problem getting +7 wisdom, I mean you can even enchant containers now.

My advice sure beats yours, which consists of sitting in a corner and crying while taking your ball home because you can't play with anybody.

Yeah Ardith is right here. Dry your eyes and set about finding saves gear, it's really easy to get 20 base wp/fort and madly buff it with bless/fury, and it's a bit harder but still perfectly doable to get into the 35/35 unbuffed fort/wp range.

You do realize there is not an endless supply of gear, right? And there is like 3 suits of "saves" gear and nearly all other addy/diamond is greater magic protection.

And I *had* fury, but you seen how much that helped me getting full dispelled and a few weeks ago getting petrified in 1 cast while furied.

Right - "lol I'm a barb" isn't an excuse for not gearing at all. Go find moderate wp/fort gear for every slot (SUPER EASY!) and you're pretty safe from instakill.
