[Skills help] Flip

Syntax: flip

Flip can be used to counter the prone affect, which is given to a character who has been bashed or tripped to the ground. A successful flip will stand the prone character up onto her feet, ending the prone effect. An unsuccessful flip will refresh the timer on the prone affect, thereby increasing duration that the prone character will be vulnerable. Flipping, as you might imagine, takes quite a bit of physical effort.

What about something like ground fighting? Would work just like a barbs blind fighting but for being prone. Perhaps even allowing the use combat abilities while prone if they can pass a ground fighting check first. Using trip as the example, it would check ground fighting first to see if the trip can be attempted, then perform the opposed trip check (The same could be used for kick, dirt kicking, etc).

oo oo, we can give swashies "impale" allowing them to avoid bashes by allowing the swashie to counter a bash by instead impaling the would be bum rusher with their blades.

This was my suggestion, and I still stand behind it -- all "tripping" classes should be able to trip while prone, at a bit of an accuracy disadvantage (which comes from prone anyway). It lets a lucky (or accurate) character escape bash-lock. However, if you try to trip someone unsuccessfully while prone the fast-affects lag you would incur should stack on the end of the current lag.

I don't see why mercs need to lose trip, or why only swashies would get this ability.

Back to two posts ago, mercs do NOT need another buff. Tripping while prone seems to me, that it is more of an agility thing. You can't do that in hvy armor.
