I believe it is dumb because I don't like when the best weapons in the game are canceled out through something that cannot be removed from a player, something that is available to that player without any preparation work required. Every single weapon in the Nightmare Temple or Iron Citadel will be less effective against an MR barb than a bronze weapon from the newbie zone or a mithril weapon that can be gathered and enchanted solo. What's the point in going out to gather and enchant elite equipment with a group of people when it's canceled out by anyone's trained MR?

Don't even get me started on the fact that the armor from these places doesn't come with saves, therefore they're worse than armor available on summonable NPCs.
The enchant changes and MR damage reduction changes have actually -discouraged- people from bothering to go get good EQ.

Hold on, did not Dulrik say that there is a bug allowing for the super enhancing of the natural resistance trainable for a barb?

Why don't we wait and see what level of resistance they can receive from their natural MR training before we continue this debate. Keep in mind that they are likely augmenting the intended amount through enchantments right now, which as Dulrik noted was not the intent.

Aelandron, buddy.

A barbarian has the option to train MR 10 times. Which is 100% magic resistance. So a naked, gm barbarian who trained MR is immune to the best weapons in the game.

Fixed your quote above. One of the ideas here is that if something is considered the "best" then I am probably going to start attaching conditions to it so that it may no longer be the best in every single situation. Most things should have trade-offs.

Dulrik, a high number of the "elite" weapons in the game are of a non-physical type, which great sense they carry little weight -- but when coupled with a non-physical attack, a naked barbarian with 10 MR trains is completely immune. It's really quite ridiculous: you've given MR barbarians both spell and weapon immunity, and they should never have both.

MR trains should not affect magical weapons, period. The barbarian already enjoys a severe advantage against casters -- he should not be afforded the same luxury against fighters as well.

Guess you'll just have to use your leet tictacs to, oh I don't know, not use a magic only weapon against a MR barb.

I thought we were trying to get past the point of weapon hoarding. But sure, I could carry around a half-dozen weapons in my inventory just like the pre-disarm fixes.

But that's really not the point. I always got the impression that magic immunity came at the price of being more physically deficient. Instead, it's morphed back into "zero-prep characters can automatically beat highly prepared people."

Maybe it's just me, then -- but every single one of my weapons is magical with a magical attack save one, and it's mithril.
