I can think of a bunch of high level elite weapons that do not do magical type damage. I've also not seen this in any battle my MR character has had.

Code:
[ 68] [ 68] [ 88] 4am

Your shield blocks a fire elemental's attack.
A fire elemental's flaming bite slightly singes your head.
Your shield blocks a fire elemental's attack.
Someone misses you.
You scratch a fire elemental.
You scratch a fire elemental.
You scratch a fire elemental.
A spirit rider misses a fire elemental.
An acid mephit fades into existence.
An acid mephit's acidic bite is deflected by fur hide from your chest.
You dodge an acid mephit's attack.
A lanky male minotaur's freezing bite slightly singes your chest.
A lanky male minotaur's freezing bite barely burns your chest.
A lanky male minotaur's freezing bite lightly burns your chest.
A lanky male minotaur's freezing bite lightly burns your chest.
Overall, a fire elemental has quite a few wounds.

[ 51] [ 68] [ 87] 4am

Are you saying that Hoch took half damage from that attack round? My understanding (of what you are saying) is that an MR character takes half the damage of this type of attack (negating the magical half and taking the physical half).

That is correct. The magical damage is resisted completely, but the physical damage hits you and is calculated normally.

Opey, when a a minotaur merc hits you with four straight chest shots from a no-dachi and only does 17%, that's not full damage.

It seems like full damage to me.

Against no armor/buffs beyond "toughness", lol man.

Yeah, that's not full damage Opey, sorry.

I'm not saying that any of you are wrong. I just find that difficult to believe. Also, I do have a buff in this log.

Griffons resist cold. You would need to test this side by side with a non-MR griffon to see the difference MR actually makes in this instance. Either way a griffon barbarian fighting defensively against a guy using a freezing bite one-hander is not going to take tremendous damage.

Griffons are not extra resistant to cold. That's centaurs.

Even still, 17% seems like pretty significant damage for someone who is supposedly only taking half damage due to being magically resistant.

Regardless of what it seems to you, those informing you that 17% is not massive damage for 4x minotaur-sized no-dachi chest hits are correct.

I don't think this is a problem. Dulrik's clearly intent on bringing MR barbs into line, and the only remotely powerful case is still the invincible aura bash + mistletoe eating MR barb, which has been taken care of. Immunity to magical damage fits with MR.
