Oh...guess not. When you like an idea, you support it, like you did. When you don't like an idea, you criticize it and try to explain why. Some of your posts have received criticism, and some have received support, but when we criticize your posts, it's not because we don't like you. We just don't like some of your posts.

Oh, and staying on topic, the Forums IC Notes board would be awesome. +1.

Ah! But I'm trying not to take up the position that I am correct, or that anyone else is incorrect. Sure you can debate the pros and cons, sure you can agree with anothers points, but I'm not *trying* to convince anyone else, merely to state my opinions.

My reasoning is, that it's not our job to make final decisions based on the suggestions being made, that falls to the game implementors. We agree on the subject at hand in this post, and honestly that's great, but if you disagreed I hope I wouldn't try to marginalize your position. In an open forum everyone deserves a voice (if they are trying to be constructive), even if at the end of the day those who are making the decisions opt not to listen to every voice.

Of course I say I try to do these things, because I must admit I'm not perfect (sadly  ) ha! I'm likely guitly of doing what I say I'm not trying to do somewhere in the many posts I've spewed out. But that's the intent.

There. Fixed it for you.

you're missing the point of the "FTFY" response. Obviously we can correct people's blatant typos, but the real purpose is to be funny and edit the person's words to make them say what a.) we want them to say or b.) what we think they probably really meant. And then we can have lols all around.

@Aelandron: No, it's not our job to make final decisions based on the suggestions made, but if it were, and you saw this, what would you do?

Options A-D. Option A is suggested, and widely accepted among members. Option B is suggested, and noted as a possible alternative, and it is stated that Option A is still preferred. Option C is suggested, and is met with brutal opposition from the majority of the members. Option D is suggested, and it's just a modification of Option A, and the majority see it as another possibility while still preferring A.

Dulrik can look at each option and maybe he thinks A, C, and D are all good choices. He then sees that A has an overwhelming support group behind it. He chooses A.

That's where we come in. We swayed him by arguing that your idea wasn't as good as whichever idea was picked. If everyone just said "here's my suggestion" and no one stated which was best to them, which is in a way voting, then Dulrik would be stuck at figuring out which of A, C, and D he wanted. I'm sure he could make the decision, but these forums do influence his decisions often. Voices, yes, we all have them. We listened to your voice. You can tell that we didn't ignore it because there were a lot of people saying no to your voice. If it were ignored, you wouldn't have received a response.

I don't know how else to put it.

I know what the FTFY is normally, but this is Gameplay, AND I kind of like Rodwen's posts... So I didn't want to troll him.

Besides, the fact that up to my correction he thought (for about two posts) that Aelandron was in fact against the idea due to the "?" is funny and hilarious of itself!

If I remember right... Viltrax or D or both said that the forums can't talk to the game, the game can only talk to the forums. Would love it, but I think it would require something like a heavily modified fmud in conjunction with changes in the game to make it happen. People like their clients though, and I doubt too many would like to forced to use a specific client.

I understand that the actual forums can't talk to the game, but a custom page potentially could, right? The Note Board doesn't have to be on the actual forums. It could be a custom page. ShatteredKingdoms.org/GameNotes could be the location. Just a simple table that loads the notes out of the game database, and a simple add form that saves to the game database. The form would of course have to require a character name and character password so that it would be posted by that character. That sounds doable, but maybe I'm just being ignorant.

Honestly, in your hypothetical, I'd probably pick A in most cases, being honest. But that would not always be the case. Keep in mind that the goals of players and the goals of the administration are not always aligned. (Given the prevelance of this, I don't think I need to site examples).

And truthfully you may have swayed Dulrik with your enthusiasm and posts (if you want to make that assumption - as you do), I'd caution you though from thinking any given response, number of responses or even the results of a vote will sway the mind of a person, that is beyond anyone's pervue to assume save only after they've explained their own reasoning.

But that's the whole point I'm trying to make, there is no reason to believe that numbers make an argument correct, or that universal agreement make an argument correct. (or maybe correct is too strong, but the best suited choice for the aims and goals at the time of decision). All we can do is share ideas, and let the pendulum swing. I'd like to think that over time and the iterations of changes that time brings that things in a game like this trend towards the better.

I understand what you're trying to say Rodwen, I do, but I hope you see my perspective too.

Anyway back to the topic at hand, someone had mentioned Notification being sent to the recepient of a note if they were named targets. I'd like to add consideration for unnamed targets who are part of an organization, like a tribunal, church, or cabal. I would think that broadening that scope, would help leaders be more confident that they could use notes to relay things like important rp, directives or changes.

PPS - I want to apologize for any in game logging in and out over the past few days, my girlfriend has the flu that's going around, and sometimes I need to hop off in the middle of something. Sadly that's why I had to RP being sick myself during the last empire coliseum rp, but that's ok it forced me to add a new character flaw!
