I agree that priests are fine. But what do you meant they got the better end of enchant/concecrate? Just because they're the ones who got AP as the armor enchant?

In general, I find the enchant item options better than the consecrate item options. And the enchant/consecrate weapon options pretty much equal (speed vs. damage). Consecrate is definitely better for armor, though, given that AP>MR.

Priests got MP, sorx got MR. Both got AP.

Both can do AP on armor. Only priests can do MP, which is better than MR save for niche builds. Priests also get the better end of the stick on items with fortitude versus reflex for sorcerers.

Sorcerers got the better deal on enchant weapon, since I think +speed is grossly overpowered and is unquestionably better than +damage. If given the choice, I would always take consecrate over enchant.

That said, the point of this thread wasn't really to see if priests need a fix as a class.
Its that certain spells and/or the benefit of heavy armor is making certain religions much more popular than others, to the point where the decision to join a religion is no longer the RP choice, but a calculated decision based on game mechanics. Its not wrong, per se, its just sad to see.

Not sure how you come to this conclusion, since I think the balance between cloth, light and heavy armor faiths is as close to perfect as you can get. If you are picking a faith based on mechanics, you can't really make a bad choice.

The Meissa spell could probably use a tweak. Maybe the Achernar spell, too. However, if the Achernar spell was affected by the peak stat change Dulrik made in the latest update - it is probably just fine.

The Meissa spell should just be changed to Cleanse Body or something, which removes SD and Fatigue effects. Trying to improve upon its current incarnation would prob require more work than it would be to wipe and start fresh.

Well, I haven't been in the game for a couple of years but I'll bet that you haven't seen a priest of Khore for a good while. Or whoever the god of elements is, these days. It's probably been a while since a Nashirite priest was rolled either. Or a Meissan.

I'm sure there are those who would roll in those religions for the RP, but I bet you there are way more priests in Ain and Thuban than anywhere else.

Interesting. They seem about the same to me overall.

BUT.

I'd rather just see all the enchanting/consecrating options combined and given to both sorcerers and priests. Since this looks like going "backward" vs. what's been implemented and Dulrik doesn't like undoing things, this will probably never happen. It's just that with a relatively small player base, it ends up being pretty hard to find people to do your enchanting for you, even the minor stuff.

Also, I love the fact that we can now enchant for stats in terms of newbie/lowbie help. But it would be better if the helper could assist across the stat spectrum rather than just with three.

The faith spell for Khore and Nashira are both decent. I agree the Meissa spell is trash. The real issue here is that heavy armor faiths already had the advantage of adamantite/diamond armor in addition to their faith spell, and then the only drawback associated with heavy armor was taken away when they were given lighten load.

Removing lighten load from heavy armor priests is a better solution than giving more stuff to a class that already has the best utility in the game.

Enchanting for stats is boss. Best part of the whole update package. :P
