This post is to make sure players know I'm doing a thorough area by area sweep to bring every one of them into line with all of the updates that Dulrik has added in my absence. There are a few updates that require builder action and I'm happy to make the modifications to required to bring everything up to snuff. The changes I'm most focused on attending to are the new enchant system, the pet update, and other behind the scenes additions. This doesn't completely take into account all of the changes I'm doing, but its the main reason for the checking of areas.

I've done this once or twice before and had mixed results, but my experiences in doing so have given me experience to know what the best methods are to have as little impact as possible on the feel of the game as possible. I'm sure many old players remember the "Great Wimping of 2006" and I intend to have as little of that as possible. I will be going through multiple steps to complete the task I've described. The ultimate reason to finish this task is to allow Dulrik the builder response that he is due in order to ensure his code updates are useful and enacted in the mud. The checks are not all nerfs and so I hope that people can rest assured they are getting something good out of my efforts.

Thanks for reading and I intend to report back here when I've completed the task I described. Feel free to post questions here. PM or email me with things that might contain sensitive IC information. Right now I've completed over a third of the game and haven't noticed any huge issues.

Any chance you could fix it so taslamar's guards can go into imperial territory?

I think it's a tribunal wide thing versus just Taslamar's guards. Also, are we due to see tribunals lose access to spells via guard NPCs in this game wide check up?

Yours is not a bug. What I am talking about is a pretty blatant bug that creates a significant balance issue across tribunals.

I don't think I saw anywhere in Achernar's original post saying that the game wide checkup was for bug fixes only?

I thought the bug was that any other tribunal's guards leave upon entering Empire territory?

Achernar posted about fixing areas. He can't do anything about code issues. It has been announced several times now that the tribunal guard problem is a code issue and that it will not (and actually can not) be fixed any time in the near future.

So please don't derail Achernar's thread on that topic any further.

What sort of changes are you having to make, what would you consider nerfs, and what would you not consider a nerf? What sort of changes can we expect to occur on items as far as enchants, scripts, material type and other things are concerned?

I appreciate you letting us know what's happening, and while you certainly can't tell everyone a list of every single change, it would be nice to know what sort of things to expect. I have a feeling that people who have taken the time to go out and identify 90% of the items in the game are going to have to redo all that work after this, and it would be nice to at least know what sorts of things to be looking out for.

If you wouldn't mind, I'm sure the pbase would also appreciate knowing when you're finished so they can start taking stock of the changes.
