I'm not sure how it works, but I do remember something about a mana cap w/ voodoo damage being implemented, or something along those lines.

Or maybe it was just a cap on actual mana pools?

I forget.

As far as I know there's no cap on mana pools.

What I meant is that it either does the damage of your mana pool, or does half damage for having no doll. Having it double the damage on say 1600 mana would just be a little ridiculous.

*Bump*

Change spirit dolls back to shaman "symbols" and gimp their stats down to +3 to match other religions. Please.

Thematically it makes sense, and was always one of the neat distinctions that a shaman could do for themselves. If you worship a bear spirit, you make a bear totem, etc.

That is all.

How about their own ability to create a spirit totem, that is based on what they choose when they complete the spirit totem quest? Fills up the symbol slot and each of the different spirit totems has different stats, like religions?

Silly Galactus. Planet Chompers get no love~♥

This is thread is a little worn, but it wasn't long sense Smoochy heard that Shaman were able to wear the spirit dolls they make as symbols. Not also that, but Smoochy also heard that the spirits dolls could be used by players 'without' religions. Thats actually a very neat idea. Dulrik seems to have no recollection of the event of this being possible, but if more then one person mentions it, the event must have transpired some time ago...

As for @Lambeauistic? Not sure about the Shaman religion RP. No one has made any example of it, and its hardly mentioned in the Helpfiles. No one ever saves logs of good RP. And if they do, they never clean them. So talk about Bear spirits, Bat spirits, Raven spirits? Might need someone to write a detailed helpfile, cause its being treated less like a religion and more as a tanking subclass of the cleric genre.

If it IS a religion, other people, regardless of alignment/class/race/etc, SHOULD be able take part in it just like other religions. Shaman DO however, have spirit temples ingame, and that honestly supports Shamanism as a separate religion.

Is it treated like one? Answer: No, it is not...

Why it is not? Answer: Because it isn't written in any format...

It makes sense to allow other classes to worship shamanism and to also use the dolls as symbols. Barbarians are suppose to be close to Shamans. Says so in our Helpfiles, right?

Now, Smoochy isn't arguing anything. But hey, that is something to talk about~♫

EDIT:

Okay. Started out trying to be a Bat Worshipper, got turned down cause there were no Pet Bats in game. Was also never clearly given ANY detailed guidelines to Shaman RP, so...had to make up something with what was available at the time. Go figure...Ask ICly, if you like...

Common practice is not that you would be a bat worshipper but that the spirit of the bat would be sort of a guide. You are bonded to your spirit animal. There is a quest that selects your totem. Also, if you worship an animal wouldn't killing it to make a doll be a little irreverent?

Keep an eye out for new clues into shamanism. There are some excellent resources floating around the River, too. (How fitting.)

Smoochy gets that, Meissa. And Smoochy already details a little of the Bat Ideal in Smoochy's physical description. But as you said, its a Spirit Guide, not something to worship. The River is probably the scariest place ever...look at all those demons and monstrosities!

With the animal totems, I don't think Galactus is saying to kill it to make a totem. It would be a create totem spell akin to the create symbol spell.

Was referring to lambeauistic's post with the killing comment. The 'holy symbol' equivalent would be neat and a lot of coding. If it was adopted, I feel it should be married to the mentioned quest.

Ritual sacrifices of animals are not uncommon to some shamanic cultures.
