I wasn't trying to smack talk you. I was just trying to provide an alternate viewpoint to the "GM in 20 hours" crowd.

My intention was not to brag about how quickly I can level a character, since that is primarily a function of having played the game off and on since 1996 and not any sort of skill factor.

My point is that oathbreaker seems to disproportionately affect players that level slower. If I were a new player, I am not sure how motivated I would be to continue playing SK if my character was removed from a faction and I found out I could not join another without months of RP - and even then it would be unlikely I could join a new one.

At the same time, I like that oathbreaker puts meaning/consequence into the decision of which faction you join.

Adding to my earlier comment, perhaps the Cabal/Tribunal Leadership swears a life oath, while the typical member swears a lesser oath, lesser in regards to time in the Cabal/Tribunal. I think it is perfectly reasonable to be honorably discharged from one or the other without a strict penalty. My goal isn't to encourage faction jumping, just to add a little more RP to the game. Obviously there would need to be a legitimate reason to leave, however, if you made membership akin to military service, you do your time and get out, or re-up and continue your career as a member of whatever faction you're in. If nothing else, this makes great sense in regards to the Tribunals.

@finney: If you have some great tips for leveling that fast, especially for mage/cleric, I'm all ears man. I'd love the advice. Shoot me a profile message if you're cool with sharing, thanks.

I remember the RP that Aise and Nosephthyki had to go through to switch cabals. Excellent characters with excellent reasons to switch and lots of long drawn out RP sessions. I think that is how it should be, but I do agree with Finney to an extent.

Those two characters were also abnormally awesome. I feel as though most players roll with faction intentions. Then they f** it up.

Yeah... no comment.

Let's leave it at it is an extended period of time beyond what a majority of players seem to keep their characters. Then you have to RP your interest, RP acting like a member of the faction, helping out the faction and trying to further their causes.... and then...you -MIGHT- get in.

Needless to say, after waiting out the time period and all the RP that went into it, I eventually said to hell with it because the character was getting to old and I wasn't getting any feedback from staff on being allowed in. By then, the entire faction had turned over and it was then run by people who were strange to her.
