That would be a move in the right direction, but the success rate still should probably be looked at. It's pretty rare that AoN doesn't wipe out the entire affects list in one shot.

I think AoN might be better if it trigger off of someone hitting the barbarian, rather than the barbarian hitting someone else. That way there is more risk for the barbarian, it is easier to avoid, but still useful as there are plenty of ways to get someone to attack you.

Making it so that AoN didn't proc off of ranged weapon attacks would severely lessen it's strength as to what it is now. At the moment MR barbs are one of the best possible second-rank people you can have. It would honestly make the skill all but suicidal to use effectively, and while that may fit the RP role of barbarians fine, it's not all that fun using a gimpy skill.

If anything, I think that AoN should be moved to an active skill that would take buffs away from everyone hitting the barbarian instead of it's potential to "prep" before a fight now. That would honestly fit more thematically anyway in my opinion, and it would also make it another active skill, which is probably the only nerf in and of itself that AoN needs. I think it would also be good to have while prone if it were to be changed in that way. It would also be much more balanced because as it stands the best possible place to put an MR barb is in the second rank, which is honestly just pretty stupid when you think about it.

So, it would work similar to blitz? You activate it and AoN hits everyone who is attacking the barbarian in melee. Those attackers will have their buffs negated, regardless of who the barbarian is attacking.

Do I have the concept right? If so, I like it!

Increase the mana cost dramatically (factor of 10), and make it an active skill that has to be used in combat to hit the active target (or attackers).

Most importantly, AoN cannot cancel held spells.

That's my point: AoN right now is really finicky (on account of instantly breaking on whoever you hit or get hit by) and yet also too powerful, in that it can be used from the second rank with relative impunity. Making it an active "hit all my attackers" skill is a much better solution.

Aura of negation will only fire if something has spells on it. While it can be easy to put spells on something, most people don't put in that much effort.

AoN doesn't get "wasted" if the target has no effects?

That's right up there with a failed bash not starting combat.
