Agreed. I like the noncombat ideas in this thread. Don't think circle needs buffs.

Then I'd still like to see the ability to move through a door without opening it. And an advanced stealth ability.

Well, I want finesse for scouts... But you don't always get what you want. I think with the buffs to swashies of late, the only two classes that really need looking at are scout and rogues. Are both viable options for characters? Sure. Are they both in need of some tweaking, absolutely. I couldn't really offer much in the way of rogues, but there is clearly an issue with them as not many people wish to play them.

Bumping this thread with my own $0.02:

Art of Stealth
The rogue is the king of remaining secretive. He can silently manipulate objects, doors, and other objects through sleight of hand. He can also remain incognito and avoid detection by other adventurers. His disguises become ever more convincing through mastery of this skill. Hiding is also perfected as the art of stealth is learned. As rogues are incessantly defying laws, their art of stealth even helps them avoid detection by many constabulary and gives them a chance to perform illegal acts without witnesses being aware a crime has taken place.

Champion level skill

enhanced hide - does not drop for look, tell, gtell, and other non-combat actions, disappears from who list while hidden, get, drop, open, and put become silent while hidden

enhanced disguise - while disguised there is a chance to slip past guards and perform crimes without any memory for witnesses

I'm all for it. It would make Rogues a very, very great class. and even adds a little 'alone' factor. Since.... well... I doubt my camel will be as quiet as me.

Sorry to double post but this skill could be used as like a stance.. Allow all those buffs but when combat occurs throws you neutral.

I was thinking it more of a passive skill. Most items would have a chance to work based on skill mastery. Even with mastered hide, disguise, and stealth, they would have a tiny chance of failure. The who list item I suppose would be the one item I think would work regardless of skill mastery. I don't think it would be wise to allow a skill check for every use of the who command. Actually, I'd be concerned that this skill could be too easily mastered without great effort. However, I don't care for any combat buffs for rogues. I really feel they deserve to have the stealth package to grant them the unique utility they should have. They should be second rate fighters, but they should be second to none in moving around without being detected. I think that detect hidden would allow someone to see the rogue, but not detect him on the who list or sense stealthy actions.

As a stance, it would be fine. Hide automatically drops during combat anyway, and stealthy actions would be impossible. However, I'd prefer it be passive for simplicity's sake. If you can hide (not in combat, not glowing, etc) then you can be stealthy.

hide + sneak + disguise + stealth = very hard to detect rogue

Nod, I agree then. But at this point.. anything for rogues is a plus.
