I think this is a terrible idea.

Frankly, I don't care if one character has every single piece of elite equipment in the game. If he or she is strong enough to keep it, more power to them. I do take exception to characters that have hoards of elite gear, but are never seen in public. Therefore, that equipment has very little chance of ever changing hands.

I think a lot of the equipment issues will be resolved through "redistribution" if/when characters have to go to public gathering places, like an inn, in order to avoid the code stripping their gear. I would rather see Dulrik start with a small change(s) and make more if that isn't sufficient than to make a drastic change and then have to scale back.

Having a cap on your equipment means you wouldn't be able to hoard. You could gather as much equipment and use it while you are logged in, then have to choose what to keep when you log out.

Might as well just institute the standard Diki "rent" system that is used by a lot of other games, if you go that route. I don't particularly care for that sort of system - never liked it on any other MUD I have played.

The system should allow for a person to carry enough equipment and trim any excess.

You should also limit people to 1 character above a certain level.

Technically if I gathered it and can keep you from it, I am not more powerful PK wise, but crafty enough. Power comes in many forms.

That is why a percentage of the hours required to avoid the monthly equipment purge should have to be spent in one of the five inns I listed previously in this thread. It is quite easy to hide and hoard a lot of elite and rare equipment.

Good luck doing that if you have to spend ~10 hours a month in a public place - pro tip: it won't happen.

Pro tip, it will happen. Sorcs can do it w/o even thinking about it. Necros aren't far behind. ~10hrs/mo? Are you insane? That is hella easy to maintain.

You don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about. If you want to complain about sorcerers or ethereal, please make another thread to do so. There is a reason that Wudan made himself scarce when Tzernobog and Quoaver were around - both could go ethereal and one round him.
