I'll open this thread so that people can request guides to the areas they are curious about learning.

I'll go ahead and start with a couple obvious ones:

Temple of Murder
Outer Planes

And something maybe a little easier:

The Orc Hive
Messia's Haven/Shadow Realms
Rip in the Sky

I'm guessing that people are hard at work trying to create in depth guides for quite a few great areas. But hopefully this will be an outlet once we get some of the main ones out there.

I'll go ahead and volunteer a guide for The Orc Hive. I'll put it together and submit it for approval in the next week or so. That's a good mid- to high-end guide to have available and more people should use that area than do, so I figure it's a good place to start.

Thanks, OA. I look forward to seeing it.
Should we also address the need for training areas? I feel like a guide to each of the places a new player would want to train should be a semi-high priority.
Also, I feel like the title of each area should include the level you should be while visiting it.
Orc Hive. [champion - grandmaster]
Or some format like that. Just so people can easily reference areas that their character could visit.

It would be good to start with a list of all areas, then prioritize, then see who already has work done and is willing to share it as a baseline.

The "areas all" command still gives me stuff based on level. Is anyone able to get a list of all areas?

There would probably be a benefit in our first attempts as a community at this thing to create a packaged set: area guides suitable for getting a 100% newbie from Creation Halls to Master Status by following a flow of areas that has as many quest chains or lore continuity as possible. Something you could really learn about the game from following. It'd double as reference and marketting material, I think?

Instead of trying to grind out a bunch of guides and having them end up trashy, I'd rather people just work on ones that make them feel inspired, regardless of how useful anyone else thinks it is to have a guide of that particular area.

Cool.

Point-of-information: you're okay with maps, right? How would you like us to work on "drafts" of guides?

Complete (and only complete) guides will be found in the guides forum (which is clearly marked as containing spoilers). The rules haven't changed at all for the rest of the forums. I don't get the impression that most guides of this sort are community built to start, although I've seen people post commentary that the author incorporates after the fact.

My dreams of casual contribution are crushed. Utterly crushed! I don't have the attention span to monitor a guide, but I do have lots of maps and things I've made that I'd like to hoard no longer.

The colors of the posters' names declare that those who flourish shall be brought low. :(

In all seriousness though, sounds like we're taking a [HOWTO] sticky approach. Is that an accurate analogy?

The temple of murder has a complete guide, in the game, that other players have successfully used.

I will translate its format back into something for the forums in the next couple of days. The originator requested to be anonymous. I will verify this still the case, or if as a player he/she wants his name associated with it now, but I will say it is not my own work.

I'd love to see a "How to successfully get to and defeat the Grand General" guide. I've only twice been through the Iron Citadel and mostly lost in spam all the way through.
