IMO, humans are intended to be the most powerful race, as incentive to play "standard". I don't have a problem with that for griffons. Much of their RP fun comes from an alien viewpoint, and that doesn't work if they're all over the place.

In the past, I thought griffon weakness was taken to an extreme, and leveling them up wasn't worth the bother. It's good griffons seem to have gotten better. But if immortals weren't building better weapons then, I don't know why it would happen now.

If people really want new weapons, I think it's going to take a good OOC idea and the slow IC work to support it. (See Meissa's comment in the thread Jreid_1985 quoted.) I don't mean to be cruel, but I think that takes more effort than "Let's put more goodies where griffons have no trouble going."

Not sure which snowflakes you are talking about. Are you under the assumption that I'm playing a griffon who can wield the subtypes that I've presented?

I'm just trying to give griffons more diversity in melee as opposed to having to roll certain class/cabal combos to make them viable.

I took your posts the wrong way then. I apologize.

I definitely think that it should be impossible to make a BAD choice. The maxim of roleplaying games is that if you're an idiot for not choosing a certain option, then that option probably needs to be balanced. Right now there's a lot of ways to be an idiot in sk.

I think griffons are silly. They represent a need for even more kinds of equipment in a game that already has too many items and subtypes. Their lore is a joke. They're also furry, and I don't like furries. Anyone I've recruited to the game gets turned off or turned away when they find out about lionbirdmen, and all griffon RP outside of OA's first griffons has been forgettable.

Jreid and I seemed to reach something approaching getting along and seeing eye to eye. I guess if you and me can't, that might mean less about me. Thanks for proving my point.

I am not an expert on the subject, but I can tell you that the subject of Griffons and their armor/weapons has come up several times and been discussed. It is not likely that the availability of what is out there is going to change. I am not saying this in support of the idea or in dissent of the idea, only stating it as a neutral fact and so that you have some sort of response to this request.

And yes, I believe the Makaar diamond eq was taken out.

At this point what is even the reason of keeping them in the game then? An no Grep, nothing to deal with snowflaking, it is to deal with a race that claims to have access to something but doesn't in reality. Might as well remove all but 2-3 of each subtype then get rid of half of those subtypes altogether, of greater than tanso material. Too much snowflaking, apparently. Everyone should be running around in Tanso/cold iron. No, I don't play a griffon. Making races nearly unplayable except in very cornercase builds is just lame. It becomes a very large detractor to the game in general. Newbie comes by and sees griffon as a race, "Ooo... NOT a human race!" Levels up then finds out that the axe he was training with is worthless at end game content and pvp. No one is asking for a claw version of a mottled lance/spear or whatever it is called. No one is asking for them to be super easy to acquire either. Just have it so that they can be acquired. Yes, there is quite a bit of snideness in the post, it is just there to highlight the absurdity of it.

If their first reaction to a griffon playable race is that they think they are furries, I think your friends are weird. I can't recall ever hearing anyone refer to such an association and/or reaction. Over the years, I believe having the option to play griffons has attracted many times more people than it might have repelled.

Fair observation on my friends, Dulrik, but this is where I might mention rennfaire and yours.

But no seriously I'm kinda amazed at the number of people who are denying that PVP snowflaking exists. The world of SK is one made of absolute alignments and a whole lot of iron and steel. Wanting to rise above both with every single character seems to be kind of ridiculous.
