If leaders are not making it clear that participating in faction-oriented PK is a requirement and WILL HAPPEN once said newbie is a member, then they're doing it wrong.

I'm personally of the opinion that not making it clear that PK is required and normal for all faction members should be a deflagging and cursing offense, but that is not policy. It is, however, stated clearly in the leadership board (iirc) that such warnings are a "strong suggestion" for leaders to give to recruits. Maybe the lack of those, or the lack of new leaders reading the stickied threads in that board, is why we have so many people whining about getting PK'd after joining a cabal, but that's a topic for a different thread.

Is it, though? Perhaps the lack of clear expectations is what winds up making CRS lashed out against as an obvious and easy target instead of an easier-to-fix problem.

Help files, rather than sticky posts, are where things should be if people should be reading and obeying them under pain of punishment.

No, sticky posts in appropriate boards for those who require the information is a more elegant solution than help files that open and close for each character depending on the flags they have. They do the job adequately if those who are accepting greater responsibilities are taking those responsibilities seriously and doing their due diligence. I've never gained access to a forum in this game without reading at least the first few posts in the relevant stickies. Maybe that's why I know that those warnings are supposed to be given, and have always done so in my leadership roles.

Again, though, this thread is for tweaks to CRS to make it better than it is now. There's already a thread about poor leadership behaviors and how to deal with those. This segment of the conversation should probably be shunted over there by a mod.

I wouldn't object to it.

I've never really confirmed that you're not willfully bad at English, and I don't want to reward such bad behavior if you are.

Great ideas. Not sure how long it will take to code though.

Trollking is gonna solve all your crs issues with a few simple quick fixes.

We can all agree that people often lose heart or interest in playing their characters once the relic is taken. Its easy to say "well go back and get it noob!", but lets be real, sometimes you just don't have the resources to accomplish a recovery.

Instead of attaching relics to abilities, just design it so that keeping an enemy relic(s) for an allotted amount of time earns you loyalty points.

Factions without relics would experience an increased loss or drain on coffers, but no loss of abilities.

Not only would there be more incentive to join a cabal and stick with it, the competitive players who want to be competitive can still do so, and be rewarded accordingly.

Also the outer guardians taunting? Ouch

Of all of the times I have been in a cabal, I have yet to have a leader not only tell me before hand, but also during the induction itself that defending the relic is a must. I don't see why OA even had to research that. That is common knowledge at this point.

I would think some lower ranked or clearly established 'newer players' would be given some RP leeway by the leader, who should also be taking on the responsibility to make sure said lesser prepared individuals are set on a strong path of preparedness. Both in gaining ranks, and brought up to speed as to what it takes to be/stay prepared - and ALWAYS be able to jump in perhaps when they are not alone. I'm not arguing against the point - just saying perhaps there is this flexibility - or perhaps that such people aren't yet considered qualified and don't get in until ready. I'm not sure how this is addressed. On the other hand, given how (I sense anyway) some of the RP is done regarding cabals - a character tends not to step up/be approached until they are beyond this threshold of basic experience and at least ready/willing to accept being the enemy's punching bag.

I agree strongly from the RP I've seen that the relic to a cabal is like faith to someone who follows a god. It is the source of power, and beyond merely a symbol - the physical manifestation of the group's power. Perhaps for clarity's sake, something general of this should be added to help cabal to make this abundantly clear up in that first paragraph - if it is suppose to be common knowledge - else by staff in the cabal board forums if that makes better sense.

I'm going to take some time later tonight to re-read the suggestions I've skimmed. My first impression (as a lesser experienced/not as adept at the PK scene) is that some of the ideas presented I find highly attractive - for being on either side of the fight. I'm all for looking at the pros and cons of a list of ideas, and the same with other ideas his and Ezeant's initial brainstorms may have spawned - especially if there are some positive results born out of it (Merry Yiggmas 2014?)

I spent a whole 10 seconds of my life scrolling down on the original post to read the tl;dr, and there wasn't one. That is just messed up. I want to contribute to the discussion without taking 5 minutes to read the post. Can someone with language skills summarize it for me?

thanks.

tl;dr that original post was mad long
