Can you just let it go until D says something more about it? Normally I love it to see you cry, but dang just let it go.

I'm here to comment on and question the selection system as a whole, not call out specific characters who are flagged. The most I will say about who my objections relate to is that they're currently flagged. Which ones will be a matter not discussed in open forum.

Keep on truckin' though, dude. Someday you'll make someone cry, I'm sure. Just won't be me.

Whats the point of making someone cry who is already crying?

You asked your question and D said he will unveil that all later on yet you are still reaching out to other imms like they are gonna go against his word and tell you. You should just deal. You will be expected to treat all heroes with the respect that they deserve. We know you are upset, we get it, but beating a dead horse isn't going to solve anything - Deal

EDIT: It also can't be handled IC because a fair number of those selected really don't qualify IC as actually heroic, as I addressed in my earlier posts.

I think we can run off of the assumption that the flag is the assurance. Understanding how or why is probably going to be revealed later. We have to... have faith.

Not going to pretend people who aren't heroic are heroic. Really not. Not going to violate the boundary of IC/OOC. Never have, never will. I don't care what the capital letters beside their name says. If the OOC justification is good enough (and it will have to be pretty friggin' good given some of the selections), I will consider whether it justifiably applies to the IC context, and if it does, react accordingly IC. Until that time, the flag might as well not exist.

These meltdowns are why I keep coming back to the forums.

OA, buddy. If the Gods call them heroic, they're heroes. If the staff calls me a troll, I'm a troll.

Denying the flag is an RP option, but you'll be roleplaying someone who denies an absolute and divinely-mandated truth. Not that such a thing isn't fun, mind you...

There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know will melt away

And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive

So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

We are trying to start this out with a sense of mystery instead of immediately boiling the ocean down to a list of 10 twink behaviors that you can follow to attain hero. Once you understand the rules, you will also see why some people made the first cut and other people did not.

OA, if you don't want to treat these people 'as heroes', then just treat them exactly the same way that you always have. I'm trying to avoid dictating the hows and whys so that characters can organically role-play the situation, but (and I'm not trying to be sarcastic) that was probably a bit too much to expect.

I personally don't see how the ability to represent yourself suitably in the PvE, PvP, and RP arenas was a "twink behavior." Aren't all three of those things in combination exactly what this game is about?

I would have anyways, regardless of your suggestion. Those who have behaved in heroic (in one sense or another) ways have always been treated as such by my characters, even without a flag. The problem arises when there are characters with flags that don't act the part. It's pretty much the same objection I have to characters with leader flags that display no leadership ability or skills whatsoever. This looks like, since there's been no justification officially for the flags existing, the code saying that characters are obligated to treat other characters with a certain level of respect/admiration that they don't deserve (and by that I mean the characters in question have never done anything to display heroic traits in-game.)

I can't decide if this is a trick to get me to define how it works when I've specifically said I'm not going to do so yet, or you are just being stubborn. Abandon your prior-conceptions and treat this as a new thing.
