That's not gonna solve anything anyway. Not so sure you have the credibility to call anyone thickheaded.

Can we just give OA hero flag so he will go away?

It's not a trick. I just can't, for the life of me, even begin to conceive of a Hero flag that isn't related to the major elements of the core gameplay of SK.

I feel like if you had dat hero flag, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Why can't you just let it go?

Two differences in this case:

1) I know I am thickheaded. :P Trying to be less these days but whatevs

2) This whole thing by OA has been a thinly veiled attempt to flame the people who got the flag.

I just want this thread to go to GD because then people can appropriately respond to the flaming w/o him, or someone, throwing a tantrum about flaming in gameplay.

The flags are assigned by criteria I support. While the existing pool may have some choices that may be hard to understand, I believe when Dulrik reveals some of the criteria, it will become more clear how they were selected. We didn't arbitrarily select individuals. The criteria were laid out and these people did demonstrate the capability to do important things that are a major part of playing the game. These may include some of the factors that have been used in the past, but it will also include other factors that have not been used previously. I like it and think that overall it will raise the bar on excellent role play and interaction in the game.

Will there be tweaks that occur as we discover hiccups? Absolutely. I am in support of the system we used to select the group that was flagged.

Were all the choices the ones I expected? No, I was surprised. That doesn't mean they didn't earn it. Since the criteria was spelled out and the bar was X, everyone above that line was selected. I am not going to play favorites or say this or that person is undeserving of the recognition when they were above average in a number of respects.

Does this invalidate the system or the history of Heroes? Not at all. Fluke heroes were picked with the system used previously. We've already discussed options for events that would run similar to the events used to select heroes in the past. The winner of these events won't be called Heroes, but we can come up with monikers that convey a similar message.

At least my gripes were related to balance changes that targeted necros when I had been the only active PKing necro for a long time. OA's flooding the forum with tears about how some people he doesn't like got a special flag that at the moment means literally nothing. He hasn't even waited to see what being a hero even means before cranking the cry meter up to 11. The least he could do is wait until there's a molehill to make a mountain out of. This is pre-molehill mountain making.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that there are seven ways to earn loyalty tokens in the game (staff reward command, paragon reward command, CRS, mentorship, religion leadership, cabal leadership, tribunal leadership) and each category has supplied us with one hero.

I thought up the same conclusion. Traveling hero, par hero, mentor hero, etc...
But only time will tell if we're right. I'm sure things will be explained at the next big grp. Can't wait for it.
Also can't wait to learn the mechanics so I came make it a point to strive for it.
