Or you could give them a spell that stops combat and stuns combatants for a time. That'd instantly make them popular :D

Just because this argument has annoyed me.

Captain America/Spiderman/Punisher

Paladins should have the option of punisher/captain America.

Would Captain America and Spiderman be a different alignment? I think they are similar. Neither kills intentionally (although Cap did during WW2). Spiderman is a bit more willing to break the law at need, but Cap has as well for a good cause. Both of them actively resisted the government during Civil War (although I was surprised how Cap was characterized there).

As for the Punisher, whether he is even good is questionable. Do the ends justify the means?

I tried to use an example of three characters from the same universe. Substitute Superman for Cap if you wish. Superman is a law abiding do everything by the books try not to violate the law refuse to kill yada yada, he's superman. Your principled alignment with greater restrictions on killing.

Spiderman attempts to do good, he is outside the law in most cases, he will beat down the bad guy, he tries not to kill, but he is outside the establishment in his efforts. Your scrupulous.

Punisher has a set of defined rules he sticks to, he is your vengeful good guy. He protects the innocent by hunting down and eliminating the bad guys, he will go out of his way to protect children and such, this is what makes him a good guy, barely, but a good guy. This is the whatever you want to call it alignment. This is what the majority of paladins should fall into, "eliminate the bad at all cost to protect the light".

You would need to slightly reword the principled and scrupulous alignments and then police the Principle/Punisher alignments till they were understood.

This would give you a Pacifist(As much as possible with the ability to defend themselves and others.)/Your robin hoods/ Your inquisition

Punisher and Batman are NOT in the SK good alignments. Batman is Dogmatic (hence the opposite of the Joker). Punisher is unprincipled at best and most likely Anarchistic.

The real issue I have is that right now in the SK alignments is that right now Thor and Iron Man are in the same alignment, scrupulous (some people would argue that batman is scrupulous also and if so that is even more of a tragedy to be compared to Thor). Yes they are both good, but their motivations are different enough where they shouldn't be in the same spectrum.

Spiderman, isn't Disciplined, he has very grounded virtues in it but he will break the law (and does so very often) to stop the bad guy. Captain America on the other hand, will continue to work within the system until the system is broken itself (civil war cap for instance). Superman is the same, he also will continue to work within the system until the system becomes broken. Spiderman is not concerned about the system so much but is more worried about lives that are affected by it.

Batman/Punisher would be very similar, the difference is the body count. Selfish people would not put themselves in danger to save other people without the promise of some self serving motivation.

Batman will also suffer some sort of emotional turmoil at the death of an enemy, also not a selfish trait.

Wow, really, Anarchistic? You should probably look up the word before using it to describe The Punisher. Yes he kills those he considers evil with remorse and outside of the law, but his doing so does not cause chaos within society. Would you consider Judge Dredd Anarchistic as both are pretty much the same in the regards of what they do.

Nope, they aren't the same. Judge Dredd is Dogmatic, my reasoning for Punisher's leaning towards that alignment is because his motives has nothing to do with right/wrong, good/evil. It is a just the outcome of his psychosis. On more than one occasion he has shown his willingness to not care what happens to people who are in his way (bystander or not).

Batman would definitely be principled alignment. He is very clearly a good guy.
