Hello all. Back when I was last an imm, Facebook wasn’t even really a “thing” yet. Can you believe it? That’s how long it’s been! I didn’t even own a cell phone back then, let alone a smart phone! Anyways, back in those good ol’ days I would often recruit players to help come up with descriptions. (For example, the room/NPC/object descriptions of Kol’s Moot were almost entirely written by players.)
I’m working on a project or two and I’m also now the new Kingdom Director for Uxmal and The Deep. As you have probably noticed, there are some weak descriptions there; even worse, some entirely missing descriptions!

You could help in two ways.

First, if you notice a missing or very weak description in Uxmal or The Deep, typo log it! Even if you typo logged it one hundred times before. I’ll be reading them carefully and making notes.
Secondly, if you’d like, you could help me write/rewrite some descriptions.

If you’re interested in #2, here’s what I’d like to ask you to do.
1. Read viewtopic.php?f=22&t=14812 All those rules still basically apply.
2. Send me an email: zavijah at shatteredkingdoms.org. In your email, please tell me your ForumID. If you even just want to send me a blank email with the title “This is Dogcomet and I’d be interested in helping write descs,” that’d be sufficient.

How would it work? My hope is to get a special forum for helper builders so I can assign according to first-come, first-serve basis. If not, I’ll designate things through email. Either way, I’d ask for a deadline of a couple of days, following the parameters of the building guide linked to above.

What kinds of stuff would be expected? Right now, the projects I’ve got going are pretty low key. I did notice, however, wandering the wilderness of Uxmal how awful (or plain non-existing) a lot of the room descriptions are. That’s where we’d start, if nothing else.

PS: If you happen to be reading this post weeks or months from now, you can still send me an email. I don’t expect this to be a one-time thing.

This should be exciting, a new area where if you slip up and accidentally attack something, you'll get perma-banished from the area. Included will be silly scripts like the NPC in Owyran that auto-shanks all NPCs.

If you are in a room that does not have a description and you wish to write one up you can add that description to the typo log and we can see it as well. So rather than just saying no desc, typo a suggested description after that.

Same thing for objects. Just make sure you identify the object in the log.

Thanks for the note on including the short desc/name of the item/room as the codebase of the mud I was formerly at would include the item/room by tagging the keyword and log that bit automatically, so I would have just assumed you guys' did too. :D
