The rule of thumb is any limited item deserves lore, including any sold in stores.

Zavi's spot on, and if you notice unique items or items with scripts which don't have lore -- usually pre-lore items -- feel free to typo log them. I personally enjoy adding lore to things, especially things I may happen to know the history of.
