I wasn't trying to derail your thread; I posted in direct response to your own swashie/Darth Maul comment and linked to a different discussion.

Sorry.

Thanks for the link to the previous thread. I read the post and it seemed that Dulrik spoke on the matter.

But in watching the fight again on YouTube, the only move that Maul performed that is applicable to swashbucklers was to kick Obi-Wan in the face -- three times! (Obi-Wan was such a n00b.)

I take this as he doesn't want staff skill on Swashbucklers.

What really makes swashbuckler like jedi isn't the lightsaber--it's their unique combination of a lack of heavy armor and the enhanced parry skill. In Star Wars, only jedi do that. In SK, only swashbucklers do that.

Weapon subtypes are not created equal. That's how damage output on slow weapons is regulated between classes. Giving staff a buff would have different levels of impact on all the classes with access to it. That's dangerous work probably better attempted after other problems are fixed.

And that's why we need a Monk Class!

We all know Dulrik loves a certain monastery way too much for there to be a monk class that could infringe on them anyways.

You mean the Ranma 1/2 Rip off Cabal?

I agree with fusing staff + staves.

I think that the game should have dual wielding weapons. I always loved the double-bladed swords and dire maces in Neverwinter Nights.

Giving swashies a blunt weapon option could be cool.

I know that this is not the most logically of items but why not just make staffs reach? I know that as a priest I have always wanted to wield a staff but I don't because it doesn't reach.

Many be not all staffs should reach, but a few sub-types would not be game breaking.

Why would you use a reach weapon as a priest?

Only of the only reasons that I do like to use a reach weapon is for spell targetting. If I am hitting the target, I do not need to target them. But then again, I am terrible at pk so there ya go.

if that is the reason, it can still be done. Even if you don't know how to use the weapon you can still equip it and actually use it. You'll never land a blow or inflict damage but you'll retain your target. Unless of course this was fixed.

Same reason so many priests wield pole-mace.

I like the idea of one or two 2-handed staff type having reach, and having an increased chance of blocking/parrying attacks.
