would like to see the summon timer go away. just limit them to one elemental at a time, but if it dies or gets dispelled - they can summon another immediately.

I like that suggestion.

I think deep-elf is the only remarkable exception to this, and that's because some people are willing to put up with so many weaknesses to have 25 int. Syn doesn't seem to think it's worth it for a sorceror.

All good race/class combinations involve not having a glaring weakness that will be exploited over and over again.

25 int is amazeballs, can't be a grey aura deep-elf though.

Would removing the cost of raise dead/breath of life improve shaman and warlocks, it wouldnt help them in PvP but would make it more useful in PvE if they are around. The XP cost is insignificant to most of the vets anyway it only really hurts newbies.

^ I've been screaming this for years. Now, with rezzes being virtually unobtainable during certain hours, would be a great time to make this change. I've always thought it made more sense to keep your "memories" with the corpse, anyway. Destroying a corpse would mean more, saving a corpse would mean more, etc.

Here's a question for some of the older players:

After years and years of coder obsession with tweaking, retweaking, re-retweaking, untweaking, and then retweaking again-

Has anything gotten any better?

YES, oh god yes. I took a 4 year break and coming back to the game it was somewhere between 20-50% a better game mechanically. The players ... well we can each take that with a grain of salt. The game is not perfect but it is a better than it was before. It is hard to see the little changes add up but over all the game other than the lack of player base size probably the most robust its been in a long time. A significant amount of what bad classes are bad is because support rolls need people to support. To be honest the majority of issues I find in the player base is more often to than not a lack of communication/understanding between different values of play styles.

QFT. Toxic players love to hide behind "keep it in-character" when what they're really saying is "I want to avoid this."

There are RP-optional MUDs out there for people who don't like to 'keep it in character'.

Players should evaluate whether their 'play style' interacts with other players, ignores them entirely, or actively interferes with their ability to play their own style.

If your last ten relationships didn't work out, the common factor is you.

I agree that low playercount is a pretty tough issue right now, though that's been looked at in other threads. I'm glad to hear that the game is mechanically 'better' right now in someone's point. I don't really perceive much positive or negative change from 3-4 years ago, but I may not have been that sensitive to the mechanical aspects that far back.

The paradox of "keep it in character" is that when one says it, one isn't. Instead, one fills the forums with vomit.

If we consider the metric of game quality to be the ratio of time required to engage in different elements of the game, then it is true that many aspects of the game now require less time to engage in and are accordingly improved.

Except for getting to level 6, that is. :drunk:
