A suggestion I have to make scout skinning not so useless anymore is to give the skins either 3 or 4 runes of a random rolled stat when you skin the corpse. This could make skinning more relevant again without making it too strong.

Sorry, I haven't looked at skinning in years.

What's so bad about skins? Lack of innate runes?

Skins were never the ideal route, and yes, now that innate SAVES are so vital on armor to reach the 20+ fort/will mark, skins are useless.

Sounds to me like a problem with the new enchanting system itself, and not with skins. Maybe the whole innate/added rune difference is complicated and encourages hoarding?

The problem isn't hoarding. It's lack of worthwhile stuff. There's two sets of heavy that comes with great saves. ...no set of mithril that comes with great saves. No set of energy even with great saves. There's a reason Karnak's (easy to get to NPC) adamantite armor has been sitting on him for the past year. Terrible enchants. His armor is so bad, people won't even go get it for newbs.

Staff needs to realize nobody gives a fffffff about reflex and stop adding reflex items. Half of the good sets are 3/7 reflex pieces and 2/7 each fort/will.

I don't know what the deal is, but raid-tier stuff (somnium/ggi/ephialtis) needs to come with great/great innately. AP on head/chest/belt, MP on the rest, with 3 will pieces, 2 fort, 2 reflex.

Stop making armor with MP. If you see armor with MP, change it. If people want MP, they can add it.

nobody gives an ffffff about reflex b/c u only need to protect against a few scary spells in pk: sleep, charm, fear, petrification, blind, finger of death - all willpower and fortitude spells.

there is something totally broken about the game when u are better off playing ur caster as a surrogate melee via pets than actually casting nukes. warlocks especially get the short end of the stick cause their pets are simply not that good. people might want reflex if casters actually had a reason to use their nukes, like magma spray and acid blast, instead of playing them as cloth wearing melee.

tldr - reflex based spells r not scary

Woahboy- Adding more enchantable gear would just up the number of people who can enchant. I thought that there was something democratic and empowering about the days when anyone could grind hours enchanting diamond/mithril and turn it into a formidable suit just through persistence.

We've gone from a point where a certain degree of persistence was required, back when we couldn't control what runes we placed, just to avoid putting a bunch of MR and reflex, to a new point where persistence isn't required, but it also isn't rewarded. Players do not have the power to turn bad gear into good gear. Enchanting is on easy mode, but now we can't even elect to do it the hard way.

Why don't they just give us back the old enchanting system and let us keep the new one, where we can either randomly add an innate rune of MP, MR, will, fort or reflex, or add 'added' runes through the normal system?

The problem is more that there are no good suits. There never was an abundance of save-heavy armor (and most of the suits that existed have been nerfed), and great MP used to be the preferred innate back when it did AP's job, but is pointless now that a large chunk of people need AP.

It's been...3? years since the enchant change went live and we've just recently begun seeing a very, very, very small percentage of equipment get changed to reflect that. I'm aware of only one piece (not set) of armor in the ENTIRE game that is top-tier (is a top material and actually has the appropriate AC and comes with 4-5 enchants total) and comes with innate AP (and only 2 ap, at that). There's a set of diamond that comes with 1/1 ap/mp (stupid). There's some various [REDACTED] quality pieces of diamond/Addy that come with innate AP but do not have the real AC of diamond/addy and compare worse (so, also stupid and kind of douchey as it just tricks newbs, nice trolling imms). No new save armor has been added and most of what there was has been nerfed (for example Isadora/Aiavi/Bone shaman, one set of Addy/mithril/cloth that used to be great saves and isn't now).

The only set of armor in the entire game that I am aware of being changed to be better than it used to be, is the bleached adamantite. Everything else has been nerfed or untouched. And "better" here is loosely used, it went from 0 innates to having some OK ones.

And, I mean, I'm saying all this as somebody who knows how and can get the very few "good" things, and generally doesn't play melee. So, not whining for my own sake.

P.S. Whoever changed Rajjin's armor, were you drunk or something? It's like...one great will piece, one great Mr piece, one piece with nothing, etc.

Yeah, I really don't understand all of these changes they've made to armor. I thought the armor seemed fine how it was, perhaps add some AP to a couple sets and it would have been perfect. Idk whats up with all of the armor's quality and AC being lowered so hard, perhaps I missed something in the few years I was gone but it just seems brutal.

Long ago, I think I remember D stating that he would prefer eq on the whole to be wimped. Basically that, when this was being discussed, there were too many good sets. Pretty sure he wants good eq to actually be less common and harder to obtain, and therefore actually be "elite". I can only assume this is part of that.
