When I go quiet mode - it means I don't want to be bothered. Nothing more, nothing less. Whatever expectation you think you have to my or my character's time - check your privilege.

Solo priest is quite capable.
And I can not speak for what your reasons are, this is true.
I have interacted with Gann on a character in the past, and found him helpful and enjoyed the interaction at the time.

The idea though that you don't want to be bothered now, bothers me.
SK is a roleplaying game, playing alone rather defeats that purpose in my opinion.
I enjoy character interaction, I would much rather ask others to join me in doing something than do it alone, even if I know I can solo it without a challenge.

The golden rule doesn't imply that you should be able to tell others to enjoy what you enjoy doing. Some people like playing SK for reasons you don't. That shouldn't bother you. Or rather, it can bother you all you want, but you should not let that compel you to act.

That would be like me starting threads -- believe me, I've been tempted -- showing off the bad English of players and bemoaning the state of things. All that'd do is just make me look like a egomaniacal jerk, wouldn't it?

I want to do what I want to do when I want to do it. I don't play alone. However, being the only priest online or the only priest that has been online for several hours when I log on has caused me to become selfish with my time. The attitudes expressed in this thread only reaffirm my position. There is no legitimate reason not to share the work load when it comes to things like enchant and consecrate.

Quiet mode is the logical conclusion to unreasonable demands on my character's time. The other would be not to play him at all.

It's OK for a priest to take time for himself. That said, being in-demand is one reason people choose the class. If you don't have much time to play, or if you're a Socializer with little interest in top-tier PvE or PvP grinds, supplying spells is a great way to stay involved with other players.

There have been many priest players who want a larger experience, and who thus turn off tells fairly often. The mature playerbase really doesn't object. Even in selfish terms, a priest that's available 10% of his SK time is more helpful than a priest that deletes out of irritation. If the problem is that saying "no" or going no-tell isn't fun for you, I've had success with using my who-list title to pare down requests. If someone is just not capable of taking a hint, a gentle OOC nudge may be in order. SK is a game; you should be having fun.

But since casual priest players should also be having fun, I'm not thrilled by this mechanic change. Better to increase the number of casual priests by getting rid of SK's investment silliness. (Playing 10 hours a month doesn't make investment any easier to arrange.)

You make some good points.
