never said tribunal characters in a cabal other than harlequin don't get attacked by tribunal guards.

try again

What you said is what I quoted. You said that joining a tribunal as anyone but a Harlequin has only benefits and no drawbacks.

That's patently false.

i'm assuming common sense. guess i shouldn't do that.

if ur involved in pk, u r going to get outlawed so u will get attacked by tribunal guards whether or not u join a tribunal in every other cabal except for harlequins. harlequins that r smart and don't join a tribunal can completely bypass the law the code - including tribunal guards. by joining a tribunal as a harlequin, ur actually self nerfing ur best cabal ability so that you can't bypass tribunal guards.

joining a tribunal as druid, fist, hammer, crucible, etc. doesn't suddenly nerf ur best cabal ability.

Yet joining a tribunal as a Harlie gives you free reign to do as much city PK as you want, -even with- a tribunal guard in tow, and yet suffer no lasting negative effects from having an outlaw list.

Clearly you don't think that's worth anything at all. I think most people can see otherwise.

Let me summarize one last time for anyone late to the party.

1. No harlie, no trib: PKing in a city outlaws you.
2. No Harlie, Yes Trib: PKing in a city outlaws you. You get to defend your homeland with a guard NPC and can't be outlawed for defense. You get to bring a guard NPC to warring kingdoms. Certain avoidable city guards attack you.
3. Yes Harlie, no trib: PKing in a city doesn't outlaw you.
4. Yes Harlie, Yes Trib: PKing in a city doesn't outlaw you. You get to defend your homeland with a guard NPC and can't be outlawed for defense. You get to bring a guard NPC to warring kingdoms. Certain avoidable city guards attack you.

You're so far off the path of logic that you think that option 3 is -always- better than option 4. I think that's wrong, but that's honestly not the point. The poiny is, option 4 is unbalanced because you shouldn't be able to bring a guard NPC to enemy territory while also being immune to the law code.

number 3 is the best option by a wide margin, but since u haven't played a harlequin u can't really be blamed for drawing incorrect conclusions. as someone that has played both a harlequin and a character at war with the harlequins - i really prefer they join a tribunal when i'm fighting them cuz u can use that against them to tyrannosaurus rekt their best ability.

it's okay tho - this is just a situation where u lack experience. u will probably change ur mind once you actually play a harlequin and u are more informed.

I played a harlequin priest. Granted, he was a naked priest so he wasn't really PK-oriented. That said, Given the chance, it would have been much better mechanically to join a tribunal unless I had multiple other harlequins to join me in PK.

u played a naked, non-pk oriented priest...and based on that ur sure it would have been better to join a tribunal and self nerf ur best cabal ability than to not join a tribunal....

well, definitely can't argue with that logic lol

That wasn't meant to be a shining example of a PK-oriented Harlequin. You simply seem to think that because I haven't played a Harlequin that I have no idea how the spells work. That's an incorrect assumption.

I don't think it's necessary for us to hash this out anymore. Neither of us is actually convincing the other of anything, and our points have been made.

u have no idea how it works in pk cuz ur harlequin was "naked" and "not pk oriented" by ur own admission. after u have actually used the spell in a pk environment and have more experience, i'm sure u will understand the flaws of ur current argument.

i look forward to us discussing this again when ur theories r actually informed by experience.

I'd tend to agree with Finney that Harlequin in tribunals are much easier to handle than Harlequins who aren't. Mechanics aside being in a tribunal provides opponents with another leverage point against them... the best way to put down a skilled Harlie has always been to kill their fountain-RP cabal mates until the RPers kick the PKer out or themselves abandon ship.

You do realize that one of those options doesn't actually put down the skilled Harlie, right?

Patrisaurus, would you rather be in a tribunal war against a trib with harlies in it, or against a trib with people in other cabals?
