I want to set up a trial run for this.

Teron's Coluseum that has been closed down, due to the academy, is a perfect location.
Change this area to have the following qualities:
When you enter, you're automatically establishing your concent for a duel to kill. (Use dueling code)
If you die, teleport to your country's magistrate? (Somehow avoid post-pvp pk. Easy ganks after combat)
Give tribunal alerts to all tribunals when an enemy force enters the grounds.
Perhaps a portal from each magistrate so that you don't get real pk'd on your way to it.
Give a 30 minute timer before you are teleported out, if no enemies have also entered.
Enforce abuse of "pk safe zone." (No running into mentor zone of Kytar. Lulz)

Let's make this happen and see how much more pk we get in these jloot free zones.

hell to the no

if u want to pk, deal with the consequences of it. that might mean u lose ur precious scripted loot if u die. but it also means u can maybe score some of that same phat, scripted loot if u win. there is a reason items r limited and this sort of system would only maintain the status quo - the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor cuz this eliminates redistribution of loot.

if i have to choose b/t no pk cuz people r afraid of losing loot and a system like this - i'll take no pk cuz at least then pk still means something.

Dude. It's one room. I'm not saying to make the whole game no jloot.
People hide from pk. If there is no way to bring them out of hiding, then incentivize this one GD room by making it no jloot.
Coluseum battles usually go over really well during GRP events and what not.
I want somewhere that people won't be afraid to fight.
I haven't seen a good group vs group pk since Berr's last fight.
The fights durring the battle for Grahme were amazing. Large scale wars. People talk bad about Grahme. But pvp was incentivized enough.
Leave this room open for 2 weeks. I bet you see at least 10 solid pvp fights in that time. 3v3 or better.

This doesn't negate the ability to normally pk. This brings pvp'rs out of hiding because they're too scared to lose their loot. And it's a test, for Christ sake.

if ur too scared to pk - then don't pk. that doesn't mean that dulrik should waste time coding a god awful terrible idea like this, so that u can do some bastardized risk-free, hello kitty online version of pk. the game will survive and the pk that does happen won't be trivial and meaningless.

People don't pk because they're scared to pk. And that is what you're suggesting to do?
So bury your head in the sand kind of thing? "Things are just fine the way they are. Move along. Nothing to see here."
I want a test to prove that activity will increase and more pvp will happen.
If my theory holds true, then we can further consider the territory system, as the test will prove that people are more likely to defend.

I'm not saying that these pk's will be as major or important as the jloot ganks, but it will still be something to boast about. You were beaten.

Just give it a 1 week trial. If the idea is a bust, the data will show it. Let's not leave it up to opinions.

Loot free zone does not encourage PK. For those who like to PK it removes half the reason for doing it. It gives those who dont want to PK a place they feel comfortable to PK, but they dont want to do it in the first place so ... empty room. If you want to promote PK you need to promote it to make it more desirable for players to engage in. Its not like people are going to get a taste for PK in a loot free zone then take their "amazing experience" and take it to real PK. Because if they where willing to risk it all they would have already done it.

As a side note your one week trial will take about 5 weeks of someones time.

I suspect this may not play out the way you hope it would.

A coliseum zone where people can go practice group-v-group PK like the duel system (but without all the limitations of the duel system) could be interesting for the less-skilled PKers and let them test some of their ideas and tactics without a full-scale slaughter and junk-loot. I wonder if that would encourage newbs to experiment with real PK?

Then would you sponsor another Coleseum battles event? Are those usually 1v1? Or can groups do it as well?
I like how everyone loves Coleseum battles but this concept is trashed. The only difference is one is coded and one is Imm sponsored.

Hopefully not ban-worthy flames incoming. Just remember not all criticism is always inappropriate, mods!

You do know that you are 100% capable of creating group PK by grouping people up and going to Teron when your enemies are about, instead of sitting in Losache? You play a priest, a class 100% capable of contributing with minimal investment. It's funny because every time my characters have killed yours you are loaded to the gills with hundreds of pounds of scrolls, staves, etc., yet you never brandish or recite them in PK. Maybe you should worry less about collecting loot that you then will worry about losing, and more about learning some basic game mechanics. You have spent the last 3 years begging on the forums for people to tell you how to PvE and PK better, and if going forward you spent some of that effort just getting out and playing the game instead of thinking about playing the game you might have better results.

This idea is bad. Most people other than you think it's bad, for reasons that have been stated. It's pretty self-centered of you to keep insisting it's good.
