Roll it as a merc and then have Dulrik just modify the pfile. Should be fairly easy to do, right?
Drain him of all his LT’s, because this isn’t on the menu. Make it happen!
But also... consider giving someone a sprite hellion.
They are forced to join legions and peacekeepers and forced to RP as brothers that hate eachother.
Smells like a clegane-Bowl to me!

I would take my current char reset to 1 and start over like we did with bards when they were implimented.

If this can’t happen, can an im tell us why it would be way too OP?

I think the reason is less about balance and more about RP. Their helpfile states they can't hold principled or aberrant, which are the key alignments for those classes. I think it should be allowed anyway.

Ok, we got barbs into the Fist, I think one or two alignment shifts for vets shouldn't be too snowflake

Let him gm a merc sprite and rp as paladin and after a month of successfully rping it change his alignment and class to paladin.

I think someone else nailed the RP issue. Sprites are incapable by their very nature of the rigidity of thought needed to be a paladin or hellion. It's just a different take on delf paladins and elf hellions. There is a fundamental issue with the racial characteristics and the classes. Same with griffon hellion/necro, and probably other things I'm forgetting.

I don't have the LT options in front of me, but I'm guessing those aren't options either for obvious reasons.

I would suggest maybe playing a heavy armor priest or a merc and role-playing the holy-warrior aspects if it's just the RP you're interested in. If you're wanting to play something small, non-standard, and paladin, maybe halfling paladin is LT-able?
