I'm going to go forward with the custom equipment idea. It will be somewhat limited in scope to begin with, as I'm viewing this as a trial run. The aim is to not unbalance anything, but to give players a fun and useful option for personalized equipment. Details to be posted in a new announcement thread soon.

So... a quick thought, is it possible to make things immune to a certain cabal spell?
A 50 obsidian custom piece, destroyed in a single command? That’s be pretty harsh.
Or would it be Ill-advised to forge if you’re at war with that cabal?

It was my understanding that you can have the item re-created infinitely at no cost. I thought it was only one investment of 50.

This is akin to old hero tournament rewards of having a custom item created that would rot in others' hands. You could request the item from the guild if it was ever lost.

Ok so for the custom equipment. Could someone make a item that would fit in the symbol slot? Cause that would be pretty neat if shamans could make a totem and use that slot since like they said before, the sacred is not so great.

Bumping this, with a few questions.

1) Is there any chance we could add about body containers (cloaks/robes/etc) to the list of options? Or is there some kind of code barrier there or something?

Given that the astral cloaks exist, I can't imagine this is a balance problem, but maybe there's an issue I'm unaware of from our side of things.

2) As somebody else had asked, what about possible symbols? Even if they just have the default symbol enchants, so as to not give people "more enchants".

3) Can we submit requests (and pay) on behalf of other characters, or do they have to submit them themselves?

4) Is there /any/ possibility of weapons? Even if they were capped at, say, mithril?

No containers, no symbols, no weapons. Yes, you can submit requests and pay on behalf of other characters.
