I agree with everyone about the problem with spells in the back row and also spells that invoke attacks... the caster should definitely be guilty. Regarding flamestrike specifically, if it hits 9 people, then that is 9 counts of attempted murder/mugging. If someone walked into a town and threw a grenade into a crowd, and 9 people were injured from it, that person would be charged with 9 counts of manslaughter/murder/whatever. That actually does make sense.

I don't think it's irrational to have someone get outlawed in a city when they retaliate in mode kill. If you are truly just trying to defend yourself, you wouldn't be trying to kill the person. Now, granted, put it in a real life situation: some jerk breaks into my house and is going to kill me. Do I shoot him with my shotgun or just bop him on the head with a pan? I imagine the shot wasn't fired to kill the person; it was in self defense. Aka mode stun, because you didn't INTEND to kill them.

I would suggest that all guards need to have the ability to detect invisible so that when invisible people come and start attacking people the people getting attacked are not the ones that get charged. Sure it’s a cheap way to deal with the problem but at the same time if you’re going to do the crime (on purpose) then you should be willing to do the time. You shouldn't go to jail for defending yourself even if you do kill the thing that attacked you.

Well if you want to get technical... even in retaliation, if you have malicious intent, you are still guilty of a crime. Just because someone is attacking you doesn't give you the right, say, to kill them and mutilate their body (i.e. A random male dwarf is DEAD!!! The arm of a random male dwarf is skillfully severed from his body.)

Self defense does not involve bodily desecration.

Why not whenever you enter a city: "mode stun" and win.

Sounds realistic doesnt it?

Although the system should be able to know that the invis person started it so when they come out of invis it should be noted they started it.

And some places having detect invis/hidden and others not is part of the balancing. Doubt it will be changed.

You have to live with what you've got until someone comes up with a brilliant idea on how to improve things, and a builder has the time to implement it. SK 101. 8)

Actually, all six types of bounty NPC do detect hidden and invis. Each kingdom has guards that do, and guards that don't. I do believe a few guards should be affected with detects aren't, but...

Code:
[Game help] bug idea typo

Syntax: bug <message>
        idea <message>
        typo <message>

These commands will take your message and location and record it into a file
as feedback to the immortals.  These logs are currently checked on a weekly
basis, and changes are often made based on YOUR ideas.  Feedback about the
suggestions made in these logs can be found on the news board, although not
every suggestion will generate feedback.

Errors that relate to skills, spells, game mechanics, player-files or
messages during combat should be reported using the BUG command. Spelling,
grammar, socials or script-related issues should be reported using the TYPO
command. Ideas or suggestions of any kind are put forward using the IDEA
command.

Since these commands do log your location, it is recommended that you log
most things (especially bugs and typos) in the room in which you find the
problem and report the incorrect text as you see it - perhaps along with a
suggestion of suitably correct text.  This approach makes things much easier
to find and fix.

For any further questions, please e-mail Algorab.

If you think it should be changed, the only way it will be changed is by giving decent feedback. What is wrote above most certainly doesn't help. What does help is when people make Idea/Bug/Typo reports that are useful and make sense. If we don't know about the problem, how can we fix it if it isn't brought to our attention? These in-game commands are so much better at helping us track down and solve these issues. They help us to delegate to the proper KD, and let us know which area, and what problem is going on. If there was a bug log made in any of my areas, I addressed it. None has been a statement of a huge balancing issue or guards that need these affects. So, either help us identify and solve the problem or quit yer QQing.

Maybe make a command that lets leaders of cabals or tribunals (depending on what kingdom) be able to mark a player and give them diplomatic immunity so they cant be reported? And make it so it can only be applied to two groups that are allied.

I just hate the fact that I was killed after someone put me to sleep and I saw my attackers (didn't die in the first hit) and when I went to the Judge to report it what did I get? Only two attempted murders by only one of the two attackers. If I am hit while I am asleep and wake up to see my attackers why can I not report them?
