Yay!

I greet your giant! They greet me!

I summon them!

I kill you all!

Yay!@#!@#!

---</sarcasm>------

Seriously think about this guys... Parties will be snared now by the weakest link and butchered just as badly as before. Heaven forbid you party with a newbie what has auto summon set to accept. Or someone sends you someone to group with you just to summon you away.

If you are going to wimp summon, aid gate. At least that way you get to fight on your ground, instead of a gang summon into entangle/darkness/warped space, and heaven forbid summon + overpowered sleep stave/orb. Hell, even a moderately powered one.

You are the weakest willpower! Goodbye!

Please note I suggested there would be a chance to summon the groupmembers, not a guaranteed success. Since it would be a chance, there has to be some sort of save against the collateral affects of the summon.

I think summon is fine. Get your gear enchanted and you will be fine unless they are real close. I dont mind loseing my gear to a summon kill for one. ITS GEAR! You can get it back, sheesh.

I never said my necro had 1/50 chance, since I was pure MR and it was no spell ward test.

If a high wisdom char(not giant) wears my scout's lewt though, I'm pretty sure they can get a really high chance to avoid summon. And if I managed to get 45 willpower on a suit, imagine what a sorc/priest can do to their own suit since they get the spell.

And also, if you think that 1/20 chance to get summoned is high, you really need to think again. The time that is needed for 10 summon attempts to happen to a char can allow him to walk from Exile to Menegroth.

Any sorc/priest who is worth their spit can take cloth storebought crap and avoid summon/sleep if you put some time and effort into it.

There is a LOT of +greater will mods on ada/energy/all kinds of material armor and accessories. Just look for them.

QQ more n00bs. Just put half a brain into it and the only people who will ever get summoned easily are griffons because of their lack of EQ slots. And possibly giants because no one puts a point into INT on them past creation.

wisdom determines willpower, not intelligence.

I like summon the way it is. I would rather see 'counter summon' magic added to the game then see summon changed. Perhaps a spell called circle of protection that will add to your resistance to summoning/gating/ scrying. Maybe circle of protection could guard against extra planar creatures too, until the caster attacks.

Maybe add a category of bard songs that does nothing but add to your saves so it helps protect against summons, if there isn't one like that already I donno much about bards.

That's a major part of the problem, as I see it. The fact that unless you go hardcore in PK prep you can be killed without being able to fight: summon->bash->dead. Summoning will always be something that pisses the majority of people off who are involved, on both sides.

Besides, how would your sorc feel if i walked up to him, handed him my suit of armor, and told him to enchant it all and get +4 willpower, +4 fort, +2 MP on each piece? Ignoring the number of times the items fade/explode or if they're even capable of handling that number of enchants, and the massive amount of time required reenchanting them and getting the items back, ASSUMING you agreed to such a momentous task, everyone gets unlucky. The next day after you go through 12 hours of enchanting on the suit i get ganked as soon as i log in. Unlucky. I come back and go, hey, i need you to do all that, again, except this time you have to get the suit yourself, too.

Forcing players to be fully prepared to even see a battle is unfair and bad for the MUD in general, IMO.

edit:Also look at how summon affects RP. Summon attempts lessen the amount of player interaction in the game. Say you're sitting in the inn and get summon attempts. A vague idea of who might be doing it, but you have no idea where they are. What's the first thing you do? Either get a group and try and find them (terrible idea since the odds of them picking off one of your group is very high) or go to a no summon area. Most of which are away from public areas. What do you do there? Sit on your [REDACTED] for an hour.

Summon is fine, get willpower mods.

If you get summon attempts and you feel the summoner is near you, either wtfpwn them before they pull their summon, or go hide away from there.

It's not exactly rocket science how to avoid a summon gank.

Anyone who complains about summon is less of a man the DA. He doesn't not fear summons. Is DA more of a man then you?
