I just happen to disagree with you. We both have opinions, and are both correct.

Chaos would be completely out of proportion, if you are not aware, it targets the entire group and confuses them... If that is not an "I-win" spell, then I do not know what is...

As for "ordinary" hold person/confusion, they are both completely ridiculous spells to make available to all. That it can be cancelled doesn't make it any less of an I-win spell... Every single round (if you cast it on a merc with a ranged weapon) he has a chance to completely mess up group formation, effectively losing the battle. That's group pk, in solo pk it would also be completely [REDACTED] because you can take -no- action while you are affected, you would need to be accompanied by at least two people with cancellation (who would have to be ridiculously fast to cancel) to have a chance against the spell.

The reason why hold person and confusion are so powerful spells is because they have an equally dangerous effect on all characters, from novice to grand master. They should never be made available to players, and I agree that even NPCs should not have them.

I would like to see bards get ventriliacate as skill, like a mentor skill or maybe a skill that lets them play musical things. I mean things like flute and drums were put in the game for some reason, and I am sure it wasn't strictly for RP.

As stated before, I agree with Konge.

different instruments could be enchanted

a flute of charm animal

bells of sleep

whatever

that would be cool, or just different affects

B00ts, while the concept is quite intriguing and I agree that it is a good idea, it simply does not fit the bards of sk. Their songs already have these effects and they are also able to employ scrolls, which also can have these effects. It seems a deliberate decision that the power of the bard is in the song, not the music. It could however, as many others have pointed out, be interesting to have instruments which could empower the song (although it would wreck things from a balance perspective).
